Ugoku, Ugoku: 3
Ugoku, Ugoku: 3
Cha-La Head-Cha-La: 0
Great Day's: 7
Much as I do enjoy Cha La Head Cha La, Great Days was the other Jojo OP I was fighting myself on whether to nominate that or end of THE WORLD, and god damn is this one ever impressive too.
The Other Self: 3
History Maker: 5
I do enjoy History Maker and it's animation but I think my point still is going to go what is probably the best out of all the Kuroko OP's. It's impressive, conveys an underdog story, shows some cool action and character moments and is an explosive crescendo that really stuck with me when I was watching it.
Imawa no Shinigami: 4
This one was NOT easy either holy crap but.....Talking is strong but I think I actually gotta give this to Rakugo Shingu. Lot of impressive imagery there about death and watching life flash before his eyes and the people and things in his life that are pretty evocative.
Super Affection: 7
Astro Boy: 2
I feel like I was watching a fever dream of madness and I am kinda okay with that.
Ugoku, Ugoku: 2
Both are pretty incredible at conveying the worldbuilding, tone, characterization and complicated emotional situation in both with some real strong songs attached. Like, REAL STRONG SONGS but I think for the sake of this I'll give the slightest edge to the on-key dancing and visual motif to Girls Last Tour but I would be okay with either one making it through to Round 2.
To the Beginning: 5
Existence has a pretty metal as hell song, but I sort of am kind of lukewarm on its visual scheme even if it is pretty neat, but To The Beginning in general's one of my all time favorite Kalafina OP's, I really enjoy the tone and characterization of the OP and I give it a slight edge.
end of THE WORLD: 6
I actually really DO like the GAMERS! OP a lot too, but it's hard to really compete against what I personally felt to be the best of the best when it comes to Jojo OP's, which even the worst of could be a strong contender against ANY nominee.
Flag Wo Tatero: 6
One Piece Rap: 1
This OP is gorgeous to me. I love the colors, the visuals, the song and the good cuts. This show is beautiful and this OP does a real good job conveying that. Still technically only my #2 for this show though.
Somehow managed to never realize there was an anime about "fishing" although it does make sense. The title loosely translated would be something like "fishing buddies". Regardless, preferred the animation. To boot, the opening of Made in Abyss, after watching it the first time, was the reason I never watched the show. It immediately got put on the "maybe if I'm really bored one day" list because of it. May be a great show, but the opening is kind of bland.
Technically speaking, this opening that was nominated was strictly for the 1st episode cold open. The actual full series opening is this:
