2016 MEN of MANLINESS - EXCELLENT EIGHT: Armstrong vs. Hughes
Major Alex Louis Armstrong vs. Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist & Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Don't forget to post your vote below in case of ties!
Oh man, this is going to be a tough one for some people; I just know it.
My vote goes to Alex Louis Armstrong.
Voting for Armstrong
Who could've seen this happening?! Comrades in arms forced to face one another!! OH THE HUMANITY!!
Both of them are devoted, hard-working soldiers, both good friends and compatriots to last year's winner Roy Mustang. On the one hand, we have Armstrong, a loving brother and son whose goal in life is to make his family proud. On the other, we have Hughes, a devoted husband and father whose greatest joy in life is putting his family on a pedestal.
As you can see, these two men put their families above all else. Often times, annoyingly so.
But as far as which is the manlier of the two…
I'm sorry, Hughes. You may have offered up the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, but Armstrong is in my opinion the manlier of the two. His passion, his machismo, and his undying LOYALTY make him one of the manliest men of all time in my opinion.
If only we had had a little more time to get to know you, Hughes. If only....

Nice FMA matchup here.
But yeah, still salt as I am, my vote goes to Armstrong.
I'm voting for Hughes, because there are very few things this world that are truly as manly as being a loving father, an attentive lover, and a compassionate friend.
Sorry, but despite the fact that Hughes isn't as muscled or as over the top with bravado, I still consider him the manlier of the two.
Hughes has more heart and compassion, and follows his own ideas instead of blindly obeying the military hierarchy without question.
Maes Hughes - Fullmetal Alchemist
I know a lot of people like him, but I would vote for a pencil sharpener before going with Armstrong. Just don't like the character. Hughes has my vote.
Oh my, another tie in the polls.
