Alderamin on the Sky

  • An exciting new anime is airing this upcoming Summer 2016 Simulcast Season called Alderamin on the Sky. Alderamin on the Sky is based on a military history, fantasy, Seinen "Japanese light novel series, written by Bokuto Uno and illustrated by Sanbasō (volumes 1-5) and RyÅ«tetsu (volume 6 onwards). Kadokawa released the first novel in June 2012. Due to Sanbasō's poor health, RyÅ«tetsu took over illustrating the series with the sixth novel. Kadokawa published the eighth novel on October 10, and it will publish the ninth volume on April 9. Dengeki Comics shipped the fourth volume of Taiki Kawakami's manga adaptation on Thursday." Currently, neither the light novels or manga have been published in English. "In 2014, the light novels ranked at number ten on the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! list of top 10 light novels"

    Summary:
In this "military history fantasy" series, the Katvarna Empire is at war with the neighboring Republic of Kioka. In the Katvarna Empire, the lazy, woman-admiring Ikuta hates war, but due to certain circumstances, he grudgingly takes the High Grade Military Officer Exam. No one would have expected that this 17-year-old young man would eventually become a soldier called a great commander by others. Ikuta survives this world engulfed in war with his superior intellect.

  • I'm so jaded, I feel like this is just going to be another "A Certain Pilot" or "Allison and Lilia" or "Broken Blade" or that type of thing. Plot that exists as an excuse to draw big war trucks and stuff. Pass.

I'm so tempted, but I don't want to be let down again.

  • I just checked this one out Nub… and wow... ok it was much better than I thought it would be...

This one might just be a little more tactical than your standard anime given the subtle innuendos it makes.

I will have to catch more of this one... but so far... that first episode with lost at sea and behind enemy lines is really got my interest...

That's awesome! I am glad to hear that the first episode is as good as I anticipated. I was hoping too that it would be more militaristic than previous anime I've seen. I am excited to check it out later tonight!

  • Is the license holder for this one Crunchyroll? Cuz if it is I'll hold off a few months and see if they dub it.

  • Yes this one is on Crunchy

  • @Phoenixus:

Yes this one is on Crunchy

Yeah but wondering if CR is the official license holder instead of just being another Sentai, Aniplex, ect show that CR just has the streaming rights for.

  • Well they might only have streaming rights…

  • Warner Japan is the international Rights holder on this show. (Checked the CR Page)

  • A bit off topic, but the op for this one is really awesome.
