Funimation does it license or make ANYTHING beside anime?

  • Funimation does it license or make ANYTHING beside anime? Ok so we ALL know Funimation License Japan Anime… But do that do anything else beside that? Like make there own Cartoons or Buy and License other Cartoon and or movies?

  • Well they made Chuck E Cheese in the Galaxy 5000 way back in the day. ^_^

But no, they don't really have an animation studio or anything like that. As far as their own created content, there are past shows like The Funimation Show and Behind the Voice Actor's Studio, and they currently do a weekly podcast called DubbleTalk that you might have heard of recently. But that's really about it.

Now, they will occasionally license non-anime series, namely live-action stuff like Lost Girl, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, and other stuff like that.

WAIT WHAT????????????? That Made Chuck E Cheese??????? Also Street Fighter is anime is it not? As Street Fighter is from Japan… DubbleTalk is that show with dumb Boomstick... :hmm: Oh god... :(

  • They do have some live action Japanese movies and some TV shows (though I haven't seen them release any TV shows on BD or DVD yet). Alien vs Ninja and Goemon come to mind.

DAMN! Do that still own that Chuck E Cheese in the Galaxy 5000 show thing? Also with Street Fighter was this Dub in English or are that really talking Japanese and that voices dub it? Now if that can do THAT with Street Fight why can that NOT do a Dragonball Z live action this way!? GOD DAMN YOU FOX…

  • @gohan6425:

Basically it's both. Some scenes the characters will speak in English with one another, while other scenes, especially the ones where the characters in question are all meant to be Japanese speak the language and of course speak Japanese with subs. So basically any and all scenes where characters are speaking English with one another are acted out and conveyed in English, while those that are just Japanese are just…Japanese.

But yeah there's a couple other live-action shows and movies they've licensed, but I'd say the majority of their content is licensed anime programming.

Well, technically that is FUNimation's parent company that holds these licenses (Group1200; Giant Ape Productions) and manages it therefore… alas point is taken nonetheless…

No idea why they acquired Lost Girl though... that otherwise SyFy, Canadian show is worthless and nothing Japanese related, alas no matter..

  • Oh gawd we don't talk about that Chuck E. Cheese thing. We all make mistakes, especially when we're young
