New Live Action Death Note Movie Sequel

  • There is a new live action Death Note movie coming out that is a sequel to the last Death Note live action movie. It is an original story that furthers the Death Note series past even the manga. This looks really cool! It almost has a bit of a sci-fi twist to it too.

yeah the movies are good! I could also recommend the book Death Note: Another Note, The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. It's a great prequel book that you can get on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Death-Note-Another-Angeles-Murder/dp/142151883X)

The creators of the new movie just released some new visuals showing off the new characters. Check it out over here: (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-04-01/new-live-action-death-note-film-reveals-2-stills-featuring-detective-ryuzaki/.100491)

  • The full cast for the new live-action movie has been released. Shidou Nakamura is set to reprise his role as Ryuk, joining all new characters. The film is scheduled for release sometime this year.

Check out the new actors at ANN:

  • Death Note: Light Up the New World, the newest installment in the Death Note live action film franchise, is set to be released in Japan on October 29, 2016. This is going to be a really cool movie, and will probably get a US theater release through NCM Fathom Events, as all previous films in the series were (and with dubs too!). If you want to catch up, they have all three movies dubbed with the original Death Note cast on dvd, and they are pretty good! Go check it out!

    From ANN:
"In the new film's story, a highly advanced information society is beset by global cyber-terrorism in 2016. New charismatic figures, who "inherited the DNA" of Light (previously played Tatsuya Fujiwara) and the detective L (Ken'ichi Matsuyama), emerge. The successors of the two geniuses will wage a war over six Death Notes on Earth.

A crucial plot element will be the "Six-Note Rule": Only six Death Notes are allowed to exist at a time in the human world. Of course, the Shinigami (Gods of Death) themselves are limited to the number of Death Notes. Therefore, up to six Shinigami may exist in the human world. This rule existed in the original manga, but previous adaptations in the franchise have not used this rule thus far."

What do you think of the new storyline? Are you excited to check this one out? If so, will you see it in theaters with dub?

  • Things will go crazy with 6 death notes at the same time lol.

Probably not the kind of movie that will be available in a theater near me, but if it does I'll go see it.

  • lol yeah seriously! They could barely handle two last time, I can't even imagine with six.

Ah, yes, that is true. Does Canada tend not to get anime events? If it doesn't come to a theater near you, they do have it on Amazon with the dub.

  • It will probably be available to buy/stream somewhere on the internet I guess.

I'm not really familiar with anime events yet, I just started watching anime last year, but there seems to be a few in Quebec/Ontario (I don't know for other province and it's just too far anyway), but nothing close in quantity to what you guys have in the US. I hope I'll be able to go to at least one of them this year.

  • If you are interested in checking these movies out in sub or dub, they have a DVD collection of all three on ebay:

Yeah, that's too bad. I hope you get to catch some of them too. Is Project Itoh: Harmony playing anywhere near you?

Doesn't seem like it, but it's really hard to tell, the theaters' websites are almost unusable (as a programmer myself I hate to criticate other people's work but this is unbearable).
Looks like we'll get RWBY Volume 1 but I can't find any time/date.

"Death Note: Light Up The New World takes place a decade after the third film ends and focuses on the digital age. Kira's legacy lives on after the death of Light Yagami, the antihero of the story, as six new titular Death Notes appear. With cyber-terrorism being predominant in today's world, the arrival of the Death Notes will create a new sense of fear.
