What's been updated list

  • Hi,

So the one thing that bothers me about the site is finding new dubs. On the Playstation app it's a little easier since it has the Updated category, despite it not always showing that a dub episode was updated along with a sub episode its still easier. I'd say a list similar to that for the website would be nice, and perhaps split it to show sub episodes that have been updated and dubbed episodes that have been update?I know I could go to http://www.funimation.com/stream and see Recently updated episodes, for instance Snow White with the Red Hair, but it comes with its own problems. Snow White with the Red Hair had a sub and dub episode update today but it only shows the sub in that list. Also it only shows three shows in that list and the View All button just takes you to the normal all shows listing instead of what I would expect to see, a listing of all shows ordered by last updated.

Also perhaps simplify how we find future and past updated episodes? Currently if you want to find out when a new episode for a show will come out you have 3 or 4 different spots. http://www.funimation.com/stream with the Recently updated list. The Simulcast Schedule on the right. The schedule page: here http://www.funimation.com/schedule and the broadcast dubs page here: http://www.funimation.com/p/broadcastdubs

  • Thank you for the suggestions. ^_^

The new site will have lists of episodes separated by simulcast and broadcast dub on the home page, and then a list of recently added episodes that can be filtered by language. Please see www.funimationnow.com for more information.

For now, you can find a list of updated dubs at www.funimation.com/videos/episodes. Filter by Language. The default sort is "Most Recent", which is what you want.

While I agree that it should be easier to find future and past episode information, I disagree that removing the general schedules is the way to go about it, and I do not agree that you have to check 3 different places. You really only need to check www.funimation.com/schedule for future episodes. The schedules listed at /stream and /p/broadcastdubs are only a general guideline of when new simulcast and broadcast dubs episodes are added and don't provide specific dates like the full schedule does. It's like when a TV show tells you that new episodes air on Fridays at 8/7c.

That being said, though, I do think that the full schedule needs filters, which will be added when the site is updated in May and should help with displaying the information that you want all in one place. The other guides will be staying up, but you won't have to use them.

However, I do not think that the new site will list past episodes in the schedule. Would you like it to or would having a list of past episodes separately like we have now at www.funimation.com/videos/episodes work? If you would rather past launches be accessible from the schedule, could you please explain why, so I can use that in my pitch to the higher ups?

    Thanks! ^_^

  • I didn't mean to imply that I don't like the schedules you already have or that you should get rid of them. I think a schedule is a great idea. I just think having the same or similar information in three different spots could be confusing to people to find the information they want. I do admit I completely forgot I could sort http://www.funimation.com/videos/episodes by most recent so that works perfectly for me.

You did seem to miss one other issue I found in the current site though, perhaps its fixed in the new one. http://www.funimation.com/schedule would work well enough if it actually listed everything being released. The example I gave was Snow White with the Red Hair, its next episode release on the schedule shows episode 18 Sub release on 2/15 and that is all. I'm pretty sure that episode 14 Dub will be released on the same day though, but it isn't on the schedule which makes it unreliable. I know this because before yesterday the schedule listed episode 17 sub release for 2/8 but episode 13 Dub was also released but wasn't on the schedule. I've this seen in the past where you release dubs of things that weren't on the schedule but that is the latest example. It's not a big deal I just thought I'd include it in my topic for completeness sake.

  • I don't think that the schedule has been updated with the broadcast dub dates yet.

  • nubguy is correct. The full schedule just hasn't been updated yet. The simulcast schedule, which also lists when broadcast dubs are added, is also on www.funimation.com/schedule.

  • sigh I guess I'm just not explaining it correctly. It's cool, I was just trying to be helpful.

  • I think you explained it fine, but they answered exactly what you mentioned. The schedule doesn't provide the release dates for this season's broadcast dubs yet, and the response was that the broadcast dubs haven't been added to the schedule yet, for whatever reason, which is typically standard for the first week of a new season while everything is finalized

Until the schedule is finalized and posted, and during the season as well, the Funimation social media accounts (like Twitter) post when an episode is live, so at least you can know for sure when it's up instead of checking and seeing nothing

  • I completely understand what you're looking for, and the new site will have a centralized schedule on all apps and the site that you can filter by simulcast, broadcast dub, language, and show. You'll also be able to sort by date. I apologize if my original response did not address your suggestion, which was very much appreciated.

We'll also make sure that the schedule always reflects everything that is being added to the site. We're just in a bit of transition phase where that is concerned. Please see this announcement: http://www.funimation.com/forum/showthread.php?9901-Announcement-Funimation-Release-Schedule-Updates

  • Just as an update, but the example show I gave, Snow White with the Red Hair, still hasn't been added to the schedule for dubs after three weeks. Same goes for the shows you list on the Simulcast Schedule. Snow White isn't even listed as a Monday release for the dub on the Simulcast Schedule, assuming it should be setup the way Prince of Stride: Alternative is done where you have two listings for the show at the same time, one for dub and one for subscriber exclusive.

In your original reply you said, "You really only need to check www.funimation.com/schedule for future episodes." which isn't true since if I only used that page for dubs being released I'd be missing a lot of dubbed episodes. :-) Instead my best avenue is to continue to use http://www.funimation.com/videos/episodes and ignore /schedule and the simulcast schedule since they are unreliable. I guess the unreliability was my original reason for posting this topic and for someone who is new to the site wouldn't know that but still have multiple places that list release days/times and have to figure out which is the best.

  • @gehn:

I guess the unreliability was my original reason for posting this topic and for someone who is new to the site wouldn't know that but still have multiple places that list release days/times and have to figure out which is the best.

That's really the main reason why we are making a new site. ~_^

You're right though, no matter how we intend for those pages to work, if the schedules aren't being updated in a timely manner, then they aren't useful to anyone. Yes, /episodes is your best bet.
