General Atlus & Persona Discussion Thread

  • I forgot that this thread hadn't been re-made for the new forum. So if you want to discuss any of Atlus or their Persona series games here, well - here's where you can do it.

To kick things off, how about four new trailers for FOUR brand new games coming out next year?

First up, the biggie - Persona 5 baby!

Coming winter 2014 for the PS3, this teaser boasts 'You are a slave. Want emancipation?', some very cryptically curious words indeed. It doesn't really show us much of anything, but man does it get me excited to see what could be coming.

Next up, the Persona 4 Arena sequel will be getting a home release for the PS3 next summer, as Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultrasuplex Hold.

This follow-up to the first fighting game is not only introducing 'Shadow' versions of a lot of the main characters, but it's introducing Yukari Takeba and Junpei Iori from Persona 3, plus a brand new all-original character named Sho Minazuki. This could prove very interesting if you ask me.

Next up (I'm going down the line of 'mainstream' to more 'niche'), is another crossover game between Persona 3 and 4, but this time it's an RPG for the 3DS…with chibi artstyles. Introducing, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth!

The story of this game takes place during the Yasogami High culture festival, and will throw both casts together. The Persona 3 characters will be as they were in that game though, rather than the updated 'older' versions from arena…and while you can only use one of the two at any given time, BOTH the P3 and P4 MC's are in the game! Playing as one set of characters will lead to more stuff for their side of the game than playing with the other, which interests me greatly and sounds like it'll lend itself to replays pretty well.

Now, finally, I bring you something a little...different. You like dancing rhythm games? No? Well, you're getting one anyway! Meet Persona 4: Dancing All Night!

This game certainly looks different, but I have to admit…it has me intrigued. At least it looks like fun, and plus, ever since Theaterythm for Final Fantasy, I've been wanting something similar for Persona...and this could be it.

So yeah, share in my excitement people. PERSONA ALL THE THINGS. ^_^

  • Would have been better as a general Shin Megami Tensei thread but who am I to blame. Finally beat Shin Megami Tensei 4 on the 3DS, loved the game mechanics but it was too boring and I was told to check out Persona 4 after giving my opinion on my blog. Now that news for Persona 5 is announced, I think I'll wait. Still questioning why it's on the PS3 when the PS4 is out.

The install base of the PS3 is bigger. It's likely they started working on this when there was no PS4 in sight as well. PS3 just makes the most sense in my opinion. This shouldn't really be a surprise considering Persona 4 came out almost two years after the PS3 had been out.

  • It's also a thing with Atlus, from what I've heard - they like to only do games once the glitches on a system are done with, and the technology and how it can be pushed is determined. So I wouldn't expect a PS4 game from them for a while probably.

  • So excited for these games, Atlus whenever these games come over here WILL get my money.
