Question about Toriko

  • Hello Everyone! I don't watch many Anime's but I was just curious has there be any new information on Toriko's next release? Will there ever be another release for it here in the states? I made a topic a long while back but I just curious was all. I really hope Funimation releases more Toriko. They've already treated me great by getting me a signed poster and two blurays of Dragonball Z. so please Funimation….Please try to get more Toriko!

  • Unfortunately, it seems that FUNimation is more than likely done with Toriko. Although nothing is officially confirmed, whenever their PR team is asked about the show at panels and on podcasts, they give the common blanket answer of "We have no current plans at this time," which in FUNimation speak is a very polite way of saying "We're not doing anything else with the series."

I know, it bugs me too, but if nothing else I'm very grateful for the 50 episodes we did get. :)

  • Man….I been watching the subbed release and really love it alot as well but I was hoping to own a real release. Thanks though :(

  • I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Like I said, it bugs me too that we never got more.

However, if you need your anime food porn fix, I've heard really good things about Silver Spoon. Plus there's Food Wars coming in Spring. Not to mention that show about bread that Sentai Filmworks put out (that they even dubbed, believe it or not). ~_^

  • Actually if you could give me some good Anime's to check out I would. here's all that I like
    Vampire Hunter D movies
    Samurai Champloo
    Death Note
    Dragonball franchise
    black lagoon
    afro samurai
    rurouni kenshin
    yu yu hakusho
    highschool of the dead
That's all I can think of for now haha :P

  • Cowboy Bebop is the most obvious recommendation, based on your list.

After that, all I can do is tell you what I liked.

    1. Steins;Gate
    2. Fullmetal Alchemist (both shows)
    3. Darker than Black
    4. PsychoPass
    5. Deadman Wonderland (despite the ending)
    6. Laughing Under the Clouds
    7. Wolf's Rain

That's not everything, but it'll get you started.

Hm… I was hesitant to bring this up, but since you like all of the DB-verse, you might try Fairy Tail. It feels similar to DBZ. A new fight every episode, and the humor is kind of similar. I may be the only person who feels that way, though.

  • Thanks! I seen a couple episodes of Dead man wonderland it was alright. I forgot about space dandy! haha I loved that anime but I just wish Funimation would release more Toriko….for me Dragonball is number 1 and Toriko comes right in 2nd. every time I watch it I always get into a good mood. I laugh at how crazy some of the foods are and the reaction to it lol

  • You might also want to give Ben-To a try. Even though it's more based in reality than Toriko is, it's also about people engaging in crazy shonen fights over food, although instead of hunting both mythical beasts, they're brawling in supermarkets over half-price bento boxes. ^_^

Also, in addition to all the shows on Paige's list, I'd definitely recommend Baccano, Soul Eater, and Rage of Bahamut. Those three seem like they'd be right up your alley. :)

  • @SpacemanHardy:

Not to mention that show about bread that Sentai Filmworks put out (that they even dubbed, believe it or not). ~_^

Which show is this? I am interested.

Also there is a show about food (specifically bread) that is actually pretty good. Yakitate Japan, part 1 just came out and available from Nozomi.

  • While I appreciate the people recommending other food anime…'s not Toriko. I feel the same as the OP. I want more Toriko and another anime is not going to fill that void. Sorry it is just a huge pet peeve of mine when somebody recommends something else when its just not what I want.

And as a poster said before that they are trying to "put it very politely" say no, they should come out and just say they aren't planning on continuing the series. Its just bullshit that they can't be upfront to the fans of the series instead of keeping our hopes that they "might". It just isn't right. Either confirm it or not Funimation. It's not like with some series where the original animators aren't making any more episodes. It's a continuing series. Just give us a yes or no. We deserve a straight answer.

That is no longer true. Toriko ended in Japan with episode 147 at the end of March 2014.

In the end, however, that has little to do with whether Funimation will dub further episodes beyond the 50 available thus far.
