FUNimation New Title Solicitations (July '14)

  • @Zethus:

It was just a possibility and it's a low possibility indeed.

More like an "im"possibility, actually. Like Getchman mentioned, Aniplex of America only licenses shows that Aniplex Japan helped produce. And they didn't do anything at all in the production of the EVA movies.

  • Ninja'ed by the page turn, ignore.

  • Oh man between this funimation and sentei my wallet will be thoroughly raped

  • The Devil Is a Part-Timer and Senran Kagura: Ninja Flash! were not added to the store along with the rest of the July releases. They have been added to RightStuf, but with the dreaded TBD release date

    Heh heh…Ninja Flash...

  • @Riles:

Delays happen all the time, dude. Just because it's finally happened with something you're interested in buying doesn't mean it's suddenly become a significant problem that needs an explanation

One would think that blatantly lying to their customer base (i.e. claiming "unprecedented demand" for the theatrical showings?!?) and then subsequently stonewalling them would be a problem, especially for what is likely Funimation's most-anticipated property…

The way I see it, the only one profiting off of Funimation's lack of business sense would be Deltamac, who has released a very nice (and licensed!) English-subbed BD of Eva 3.33 that's currently available for a very reasonable price...

  • Whatever you say about this particular delay does not change the fact that this happens all the time, with every company that distributes purchasable goods, and it doesn't make sense to feel offended only when it's applicable to something you're interested in

Update on this: Both series have been removed from RightStuf entirely

  • Deadman Wonderland for me!! …..I'll have to look into Ben-To before I buy it

  • I'm guessing Attack on Titan part 2 is going to be a fall release.

  • I will have to save my money then. So many good titles, little money. I guess it can't be that bad. I wonder what will come out in August(since my birthday falls on a Tuesday, i wonder what will come out then)

  • There's no thread for it yet, but August releases are out

Dragon Ball Z Season 6 Uncut Blu-Ray (Hyb) out August 5th
Freezing DVD/Blu-Ray combo - Anime Classics (Hyb) out August 5th
Heaven's Lost Property Season 2 DVD/Blu-Ray Combo - Anime Classics (Hyb) out August 12th
A Certain Scientific Railgun S DVD part 2 (Hyb) out August 19th
Toriko Collection 1 (eps 1-26) DVD (Hyb) out August 26th

  • Freezing gets put into Anime Classics.

Freezing is an Anime Classic. It was more classic with the meme'd scene from the broadcast that was fixed for the BDs but still. It was a pretty good "ecchi" that jumped up to near the front of the ecchi pack when Funimation dubbed it. What would be an injustice is if a much inferior ecchi show were to make AC, like Maken-Ki. Though with AC/SAVE pretty much corresponding to "Pass/Fail" it isn't that great of an injustice.

Except to have a copy that is BD height instead of DVD height I really have no reason to buy this as I already own it. Now if Funi would roll out Freezing:Vibration…

Speaking of July releases, any idea what this extra on Devil is a Part Timer really is:he Ente Isla Language: With Jamie Marchi ?

  • My guess would be Jamie Marchi teaching us how to speak the language that everyone was speaking while on Ente Isla. pretty easy actually

I'm not sure why He would, since it's arguably the best ecchi fighter on the entire market

  • It's definitely not on the level of Master of Martial Hearts. ~_^

Pretty sure the universe cries everytime anything Funi/Sentai anime related happens these days. XD

On the bright side if there's any Justice in the universe 5 years from now if Funi picks up and dubs the upcoming Sailor Moon anime it'll get put in the classics line to balance things out.

If you enjoy getting your rocks off staring at naked girls covered in blood, cuts, and bruises and missing parts of their body, then sure.

But me? I prefer my panty fighters to have less torture/gore porn. I like my girls in one piece, thank you very much. -_-

  • “How dare Funimation place the superficial marketing label “Classic” on a series I don’t like!”

I find it amusing how butthurt people around here get every time something like this happens.

    @Riles:

I'm not sure why He would, since it's arguably the best ecchi fighter on the entire market

I don’t think it’s the best, but it’s good, I personally think calling it a “Classic” is a pretty big stretch, but then again, I'm not one to delude myself into believing that my perspective and opinion on a given anime is not the be all and end all or the defining factor that makes something a “Classic.”

  • Funimation's "Classics" line is basically the "Lotsa People Watched This And You Should Too" line. And eyup, edgy hyper-violence, busty blondes, and super-powered highschoolers sure sounds like the kinda shlock Funi's target demo would eat up. Doesn't shock me in the least.
