Anime companies that you own releases from.

  • I was going through my personal collection the other day, when I came to the realization that I own at least one release from almost every R1 anime distributor that is either currently still in business or has shut down in recent years. So I thought I'd bring the subject up amongst the community: What anime companies do YOU personally own releases from?

As of right now, I currently own at least one release from:

    FUNimation (obviously)
    Sentai Filmworks
Aniplex of America (it was a gift)
    Viz Media
    Media Blasters
    Discotek
    Nozomi/Lucky Penny
    Manga Entertainment
    Bandai Entertainment
    ADV
    Pioneer/Geneon
    Tokyopop
    AnimEigo
    Central Park Media
    4Kids
Sony Pictures (Cowboy Bebop: The Movie)
    Warner Brothers (Thundercats 2011)
    EMI (Interstella 5555)

While on the way, I have orders coming in from:

    NIS America (Toradora)
Anime Limited/All the Anime (Mai Mai Miracle)
    Pied Piper (Time of EVE)

    I still need releases from:

    Maiden Japan
    Honneamise/Bandai Visual
    Urban Vision
    Streamline Entertainment
    Cinedigm/New Video Group
    AM Entertainment
    AnimeWho
    Illumitoon
    S'more
Disney (believe it or not, I still don't own any Ghibli DVDs)
GKIDS (From Up on Poppy Hill, Patema Inverted, A Letter to Momo)
    Miramax (Princess Mononoke)

    What about you guys?

  • my collection is small right now, a little over 50 titles. I intend to expand it and I've got a huge want to buy list, but I need a better job first. at the moment, I own shows from:

FUNimation - most of my small collection
    Sentai Filmworks
Aniplex of America- one show: Bakemonogatari, got it as a birthday present
Media Blasters- from both Anime Works and Kitty Media
    Bandai Entertainment
    NIS America- 1 show
    Pioneer- original Tenchi Myuo OVA's
    Geneon- Tenchi Movie collection
ADV- Vol 1 of Steel Angel Kurumi
Rightstuf Inc.- two from Critical Mass Video

  • Funimation
    NIS America
    Nozomi
    Aniplex of America
    Sentai Filmworks
    Bandai Entertainment
    Manga Entertainment
    Media Blasters
    Viz Media
    4Kids
Miramax (a couple of Pokemon movies)
    Pied Piper (Time of Eve)

    Japanese companies:
    Kadokawa (Steins;Gate movie)
    Aniplex (Madoka Rebellion)
Trigger (not sure where else to put LWA)

  • I own anime DVD's from:
    FUNimation Entertainment
    4Kids Entertainment
    Manga Entertainment
    Sony Pictures
    and Bandai Entertainment
with Disney (because of a Ghibli film)

I would like to get a release from:
    Discotek
Sentai Filmworks (Maiden Japan, Seraphim Digital, AEsir Holdings, whatever anyone calls the company)
Aniplex Of America (I know they are too FREAKING expensive to buy a set of a anime series that I like. It would be more helpful if they drop prices for old shows they own.)
NIS America (I would buy ToraDora Dubbed, but sometimes like Aniplex they are kind of Expensive.)

I rarely buy anime sets. I wish anime would go for $5 for a 4-5 episode disc and $10 for starter sets so that whenever you get a second, third, fourth, etc. disc of a Anime series, you could complete a series. That's my opinion.

  • FUNimation
    Sentai Filmworks
    Aniplex of America
    Viz Media
    Media Blasters
    Discotek
    Nozomi/Lucky Penny
    Manga Entertainment

    Pioneer/Geneon
    Tokyopop
    AnimEigo
    Central Park Media
    Sony Pictures
    Warner Brothers
    EMI
    NIS America
    Honneamise/Bandai Visual
    Urban Vision
    AN Entertainment
    Disney
    GKIDS

  • Interesting idea for a thread Spaceman! I'm away from my place where all my anime is currenlty, but thankfully I keep a nice indexed database of all my anime/manga/related products on my external hard drive. :P

So let's see here…I have products from the following companies -

    Bandai
    ADV
    FUNimation
    Geneon
    Sentai
    Sony
    Viz
    RightStuf/Nozomi
    Disney
    Avex Mode
    New Video
    Well Go USA
    Fox Kids
    US Manga Corps
    G Kids
    Anime Works
    BKN
    Pioneer

There's a few of those I'm not entirely sure I have listed correctly I'll admit, since the DVD casing is unclear as to who put something out, so I had to kind of guess based on what logos were available. Avex Mode is all I could find on this one Cyborg 009 DVD; Fox Kids is all I've seen on my Digimon: The Movie DVD; and the cryptic BKN logo is all that's on my old Monster Rancher single. I'm also aware that Pioneer and Geneon are kinda the same thing, but I listed separately based on what actually is on my sets, which would also help designate how old my sets are.

  • Did a little inventory on my collection but let's see here…

    Pioneer/Geneon
    FUNimation
    Manga Entertainment
    Disney
    (for the Ghibli films)
    ADV Films/Sentai Filmworks
    Media Blasters
    (under the Anime Works label)
    Sync Point (for FLCL only)
    Bandai Entertainment
    AN Entertainment
    (for Risky Safety only)
Central Park Media (under the U.S. Manga Corps label)
    Streamline Pictures (VHS only)
    Viz Media (VHS only)
    Urban Vision (VHS only)

My only regrets, that I never got anything from AnimEigo (specifically You're Under Arrest and Oh! My Goddess) before they went out of print.

  • I've owned stuff from everyone, but ATM only got a couple of Disney, Funi, & Media Blasters discs.

  • Oh, you know, just some of the usuals (with a couple of imports); my collection is probably still a tad modest compared to some of you. Included my favorite/only anime from that distributor just because.

    Funimation - Strike Witches
Aniplex of America - Madoka Magica
Bandai Entertainment - Disappearance of Haruhi
Sentai Filmworks - Girls und Panzer
Nozomi/Lucky Penny - Revolutionary Girl Utena
NIS America - Kimi ni Todoke
    Viz Media - Death Note
    Media Blasters - Rurouni Kenshin
    Disney - Kiki's Delivery Service
    Kadokawa - Strike Witches Movie
Aniplex - Madok Magica - Rebellion

  • Avex Mode is all I could find on this one Cyborg 009 DVD

English version was distributed by Sony. ~_^

  • I only really started collection last year. I plan on getting more titles from other distributors.

    Funimation (Majority of Titles)
Bandai Entertainment (Cowboy Bebop, GITS SAC)
    Sentai Filmworks (Fate/Stay Night)
    Viz Media (Bleach)
    Disney (Totoro)
Aniplex Of America (Fate/Zero, Garden Of Sinners, Madoka)
Manga Entertainment (GITS, End Of Eva)
    ADV Films (Eva)
Nozomi Entertainment/Right Stuf (Sound Of The Sky)
    NIS America (Toradora)
Sony Pictures (Cowboy Bebop The Movie)
And whoever released the Ghibli collection in japan (Princess Mononoke)

  • @TIL:

Ahh, thanks for that! I'll have to update my database accordingly. :P

  • NIS America

    Sentai

    ADV
    Pioneer/Geneon
    Tokyopop
    AnimEigo
    Central Park Media
    Sony Pictures
    Miramax Films
    Disney
    Go Fish Pictures

And I too have Time of Eve pre-ordered.
