Why did Seiyu's Life! not get dubbed? Was it because Funimation was not allowed to?
I kind of wonder why Seiyu's Life! didn't get an English dub? Did the Japanese production committee not allow the anime to be dubbed because the anime was promoting the actual voice actors (just like in many Idol/Music anime, songs don't get dubs because the idols are being promoted), and they only wanted the voices of the Japanese voice actors in the international releases? or was it Funimation's choice not to dub because of poor simudub or internet streams?
since it was only released on DVD, I'd put my money on very poor streaming results.
- Hardly anyone watched it.
- It would make all of the Japanese seiyu cameos utterly pointless.
To be honest I feel like no matter what answer we gave you, you'd probably still be unsatisfied so I'm just going to post this video of a pig waking up to eat a cookie.
@classyspartan I see your cookie-eating pig, and I raise you an otter with very good table manners.
Before you ask about Kumamiko, basically everyone who has ever heard of it that hasn't already watched it knows it as the anime that had an ending so bad the original manga author Tweeted an apology (before deleting) and it was already a super niche title do dubbing it would probably be a huge waste of time and resources.
In fact, from here on out, if you ever wonder why a certain show in particular got a sub-only/DVD-only release from Funi, you can assume one of two things:
- It had poor streaming numbers and probably wouldn't sell well enough to recoup the cost of a dub.
- It covers a very niche subject that probably wouldn't translate over to a dub very well without serious rewrites.
