In AKB0048, why did the government ban singing and dancing or any Entertainment in the story?
-
This is a question regarding the Plot of AKB0048. I always wondered why the galactic government banned Singing, Dancing, or any form of entertainment? What did the government have against it, and why did they make people think Entertainment was evil and Indecent?
Who was the leader of the government, and what kind of a government was in the story?
From some scenes of the Capital that often resembles Pyongyang or some soviet capital buildings with state flags draped from the sides in some episodes, and the lore I read on the DGTO, it seems that the government is a Totalitarian Dictatorship with a cult of personality. Very North Korean like. The emperor could be some sort of Kim Jung UN type person.
Anyway, can you answer my question?
-
Good luck making any sense of 0048's backstory.
-
@Nobu This doesn't make any sense at all? can anyone answer the question I asked?
-
@Spaceshotx7 No.
The only answer is because "The plot says so."

Pretty much the DES banned Certain types of Entertainment, Music concerts being one of them. Like the others said Plot
-
@Series5Ranger Why would the DES banned concerts, or any kind of singing and dancing? Where did they come to thing singing and dancing was so evil?
-
Sometimes plot details don't make sense and are never explained. They are there to move the plot forward, or provide some reason for the characters to do something. Sometimes you just have to accept that there will not be a good answer.

The most obvious answer, they wanted to stop the spread of deculture. It's clear as day.
But really, what @SpacemanHardy is correct
because "The plot says so."
-
maybe because they thought that dancing would lead to morally wrong things like teen pregnancy and sex before marriage?
-
It's a nice story hook to symbolize rebelling against authority.
In addition to 2112 posted above, off the top of my head I can name the movie Footloose and Styx's Kilroy was Here album.
