Region restriction

  • Are you ever going to remove the streaming only to US+Canada restriction?
I'd like to watch your content, but while Crunchyroll is available everywhere, you restrict your content to NA.

It leaves few options for people who'd like to watch dubbed anime, evitably, the best being piracy…

  • Yes, eventually we'll be in more territories. We've already expanded to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

If you aren't located in North America, you can get a refund for your Funimation.com subscription by contacting Support at www.funimation.com/support.

  • The region restriction is part of the license from the original producer. Unless Funimation were to purchase licenses to stream or distribute to other areas, there's not much else can be done. Your location isn't displayed, but there are other companies which often own rights for some of the same shows elsewhere in the world. Funimation just happens to be the one that has the license for the shows on this site in this particular region of the world.

  • Just "beat the system" and use a VPN tunneling service to get around. Does that "technically violate TOS"? Is Funimation your home morgage servicer? Is Obama "gonna come for your guns"?

    So many questions…

    They block VPNs.

Only if you don't know what you are doing. Granted, it isn't all that easy; but by definition, IP routing is "untraceable", at least as far as FUNI is concerned.

For example, someone here used "TunnelBear" service and made a thread about the new soon to be coming to US website.

  • Just note that using VPNs to bypass the region restrictions are technically against the website's Terms of Service, and if you are found out, it could possibly lead to your account being penalized, restricted, or banned. So if you choose to use them, you choose to do so at your own risk. We here at Funimation cannot recommend you do so for any reason.

aka: "chances are Funimation won't really do something unless their license overlords told them to do something or if you are asking for it"
