Is it just me or did the movie feel far too rushed? It felt like there was enough material here that if they wanted to they could have made it into half of a season rather than just an hour and a half long movie.
According to the Director, the Author of the Light Novels that the animes are based off of, Kamachi Kazuma, had enough written material for the plot of the movie to easily make the equivalent of two whole seasons but that was obviously impossible and way too much and they needed to find a way to cut it down to a 90 minute movie. On top of this the movie itself was a essentially 10th anniversary celebration so to speak and they also still needed to get all the characters from both Railgun and Index in there as much as possible. The Director also stated that he was very proud because they were surprisingly able to get almost every major plot point in there in some way even if it was only hinted at, but they just never went in too deep with it. So, you are absolutely right there is a lot more to the plot of the movie however it was always intended to be a 90 minute movie because it exists only as a 10th Anniversary celebration and as an original story not part of the Light Novels and they were forced to cut it down it's just that the author of the light novels is a bit of an overachiever.
I haven't checked closely enough. Does FUNi stream their full length movies on here? I don't really recall seeing any.
They do. There are a few that aren't streaming (Rebuilds, Summer Wars, Wolf Children that I've noticed so far from the anime stuff), but it looks like plenty of them are available. Most require a subscription though.
Regarding the accelerator Arc. it's at a different perspective in Railgun. Basically it's portrayed differently. The Battle between Accel and Touma, and the intervention in episode 11 of Railgun S. Different perspectives of both stories. The events are normally different because Index focuses on Touma and Railgun focuses on Mikoto; (Misaka is her last name btw). however I still think that the battle between Touma and Accelerator in Index is slightly better than that of the Railgun version.
My point is that the anime's have same events only viewed from different perspectives. And I'm talking about the instances in the Sister Arc.
Touma meeting the Sisters. Sister 10031 exploding completely than just a bloody corpse. And of course the intervention on episode 11 of Railgun S. I love these shows. I can't wait for the dub of Index season 2.
I just hope that there's going to be a final season for both stories. The mangas just finished anyway. It'd make sense to finish the animes.
Though they don't have any preorder page ready even on amazon, if you want a visual confirmation of this beyond the provided news bulletin check the ANN website now because for me the have a banner advertising funi. and one of the side banners is announcing preordering and one of the cover arts shown is for Index 2 (even though you can't even Preorder it right now on there site :P )
