Yeah I thought that was lame too. Issei's booblingual was such an awesome move that's just like Issei to invent, and them saying no to any future use was just too stupid. Also even though I didn't like volume 7 much when I read nor season 3's depiction of it: I did like the fact that Loki attacked while in the Underworld during a GOD conference rather than in the middle of the day in Japan like in the novel. Also the whole Breast Fairy helping Issei use a fake Mjolnir was dumb just make it the original Mjolnir Thor uses for God's sakes! Also I wish Fenrir was huge even bigger than Tannin and Loki causing Ragnarok should of been some kind of cool ritual or spell he had to complete instead of him just attacking randomly with legendary monsters.
@darkmatterkakine Do you have an accurate reference for this? I don't doubt the cancellation completely, but looking at the Kadokawa site, the cover shown in that link is from Volume 11 and nothing is mentioned regarding being the final volume. The reddit readers assumed that the image was the characters waving "bye", but it should be noted that the manga hadn't released an edition in Japan for a year and a half, and this release is eight days after the series resumes airing. Looks more like a definitive "welcome back" wave to me, and without Monthly Dragon Age or Kadokawa confirming the end, it's just redditors posting junk hoping for page views.
Edit: BTW, that volume is scheduled for release April 18 in Japan
I was just wondering if it felt anticlimactic for anyone else with SPOILERS!
Ophis being revealed a puppet leader(which could of worked but here felt poorly handled), Issei combining with Great Red for a temporary Deus Ex Machina power up to beat the Jabberwocky, Vali getting a new form out of no where, and Sirzechs and co not fighting Hades
Its a fun series but a lot of times it feels like it could of been better
@otakuanthony i'm happy that there going to show issei vs sairaorg. sort not happy about the new designs and stuff but i believe i'll get used to it. i'm so hyped up. ISSEI VS SAIRAORG BAEL!!!! it will be epic!
It is in the LNs, the particular story plays a major role in the fight with Sairaorg iirc. It probably has more to do with JP culture and American culture where it probably IS a big deal in JP but is not even a thing in America. I could tell you what it is but I wouldn't want to spoil it for everyone.
Honestly, wouldn't even want you to spoil it for me. This is EASILY the series which I have the most materials of, but do not have (nor have I seen available in English) the light novels. Thought about buying them while in Japan, but would never make it around to reading all of them if not in English. Took me six months to read a 26 manga series in Japanese, but in my defense the first 3-4 months was still getting used to massive doses of kanji.
Is there a source for physical copies of the LN in the US? Quick search didn't bring up anything.
I won't link it, because I am sure it is against the rules, but if you use your goolge-fu you can find all of the High School DxD light novels translated to English by fans. Google something like "High School DxD English translation"
The Manga adaptation is available from Yen Press,
that usually seems to be the case. Alot of series which begin as light novels get manga adaptations and the manga gets picked up by a North American publisher, but the light novels do not. How close do the manga mirror the plot of the light novels though, and do they go as far in depth as the light novels? It often seems the manga do not get as many volumes as the LNs so I would think the story is abridged.
Something that I'm not always a fan of comics/manga for is that they don't really do a lot of description based things, or show you what a character is thinking (at least as in depth as a novel). So what was a noticeably a big deal in the LNs, at least as far as I remember anyway, might just get a little mention but that's it.
And with the LNs being the original source, Ishibumi is able to change the story (just like he did in Born).
And what, seasons 1-2 were two LNs each (with sidestories not being included in this figure) while season three was half of 5, most of 6, and half of 7. The manga, iirc, the first 4 volumes were season 1? I think it may have been 5 or 6. I don't remember completely. Even with the regularity of the manga publishing, the LNs and the anime are still pretty far ahead iirc.
Just tried that doesn't matter what I option select, or where I select it, I get only the simildub on the pc. If I go to my PS4 the uncut option doesn't show, is this becuase i'm getting region locked in the uk?
I am sorry, but this new partnership between Crunchyroll and Funimation has become such a drag in terms of being able to watch some of my favorite episodes of shows like DxD and others. What do you mean NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY???? (Subs) Who REALLY wants to pay for two different services to watch shows that were It was available here not that long ago. While not a fan of dubs, I can appreciate the work Funimation puts into them but to basically throw away subs to a company, who at least to me, seem to use visually inferior video quality to Funimation and to have to pay again to watch them without Ads seems like such a rip off. I loved Funimation but now it feels like my love is slowly dwindling.
Well they did announce that most of their subtitled catalog, except for those with specific contract issues (ie. Tales of Zestiria the X) were going to be going over to CR eventually.
That is indeed strange. I have verified that both seasons are still listed on the iPhone and Roku apps, and I can even access the episodes using the web browser on my phone. It appears to simply be isolated to the website itself.
Definitely send in a ticket to www.funimation.com/contact-us (I know it seems like Funi isn't answering many tickets right now, but trust me, it is essential to the process). I'll also point this out to the @FunimationHelp account on Twitter.
Season 2 was my favorite, it will probably always be my favorite season. I liked the Holy Sword Stuff, the Khaos Brigade, the Peace Treaty, it introduced my favorite girl Xenovia, also the loli dragon goddess Ophis. Also the first opening of the season is my favorite opening song.
In addition its not like there wasn't things I did like from 3rd and 4th story arcs(vol. 7-22), because there was but most of it I didn't like. Also the 1st and 2nd story arcs(vol. 1-6) which I liked still weren't no masterpieces there was still things in them I didn't like, but most of it I did.
I just re-checked the first episode of season 3, and it should be uncensored now. Let us know if you have any more issues. For the record, it might be the current app that you're using. Here on the website, I was able to see those glorious knockers right from the start.
Lol ok I was using the website. maybe it had to do with the new site rollout
