Touken Ranbu Stage Play Sets November Theatrical Release in Japan

It’s been a good year for Touken Ranbu news! In addition to the upcoming Touken Ranbu Musou crossover game next year, the franchise’s 2016 stage play adaptation has set its theatrical release date in Japan.

TOHO Visual Entertainment announced via trailer that Touken Ranbu Kyoden – Moeyuru Honnōji  will hit theaters in Japan on November 23.

It was also announced that fans who see the film during its first three weeks will score special photo cards, with each week showcasing different fan favorites from the series. This is also the first theatrical screening for the popular stage play, which debuted in Japan in 2016.

The Touken Ranbu series brings powerful swords to life, and was first released as a game from DMM Games and Nitroplus in 2015. It quickly gained popularity, spawning multiple anime series, a live-action film in Japan and manga adaptations.
