It’s showtime! Beloved manga Tokyo Mew Mew is celebrating 20 years of magic with a brand-new anime in 2022. And we now have a first look at Tokyo Mew Mew New, including a teaser and a new visual.

Ichigo Momomiya and her magical girlfriends are back! The short promo video confirms cast for the series, including Yuuki Temma as Ichigo Momomiya, Mirai Hinata as Minto Aizawa, Ryoko Juni as Retasu Midorikawa, Rian Toda as Purin Fong, and Momoka Ishii as Zakuro Fujiwara.

The above group, known together as Smewthie, has already released a Mew Mew-themed music video in anticipation of the new series. And the latest visual for the series brings the characters together!

Tokyo Mew Mew New

The first anime adaptation of Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi’s Tokyo Mew Mew manga aired in 2002. It follows Ichigo, a typical middle school student who is infused with the DNA of an endangered wildcat. She transforms into Mew Ichigo!

Alongside her new friends Mew Mint, Mew Lettuce, Mew Purin and Mew Zakuro, Ichigo fights to protect the Earth from aliens. Can she save the day without her crush finding out about her secret life?

Tokyo Mew Mew New will be produced by Yumeta Company and Graphinica, with Takahiro Natori as series director. Other staff members include Yuka Yamada (Black Butler) on series composition and Satoshi Ishino (Date A Live) as character designer.
