It might only be April, but animated features and series are already making a big impression this year. And it doesn’t get bigger than Attack on Titan Final Season.

Entertainment outlet Vulture sized up the animation released so far this year, and the latest season of the action-packed anime led the curated selections!

Attack on Titan Final Season recently aired its jaw-dropping season finale and it was incredible. With the earth-shattering series set to return in Winter 2022, even this set of episodes was enough to catch the eye of Vulture as a standout.

“Alliances have radically shifted, and there are new characters who question the evolution of the heroes and villains we’ve followed since the show’s debut in 2013,” the article reads. “The result is exceptional, blockbuster serial storytelling from the animation studio MAPPA, which took over from [Wit Studio].”

Vulture goes on to share appreciation for the message and themes of the emotionally heavy series. The anime series joins Netflix’s Kid Cosmic, Apple TV+’s The Snoopy Show, Netflix’s City of Ghosts and Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon on the list.
