ATLUS has announced that the long-awaited Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster will release in North America on May 25 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

ATLUS director Kazuyuki Yamai delivered the news in a video message, revealing that this remastered version of original title launched on PlayStation 2 in 2003 would release outside of Japan. This remastered release will be the first title in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise to receive a global PC release.

SMT III is a critically acclaimed title within ATLUS’ history,” Yamai said. “It’s also the keystone RPG title that served as the basis for Persona 5, another title that fans love. As such, we truly focused on respecting the original game when remastering it.”

In addition to recreating visuals in HD, the remaster will also have a new voice over track with English and Japanese audio, as well as an easier difficulty mode called “Merciful”. The new mode is intended to help newcomers ease into the game, as the original was known for its brutal difficulty. The remaster also adds new quality-of-life features like suspended saves.

The Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster Digital Deluxe Edition will retail at $69.99 and includes Dante from the Devil May Cry series through the Maniax Pack DLC. The Chronicle Pack includes Devil Summoner’s Raidou Kuzunoha and is already included in the base PS4 and Switch releases, and will be free DLC for the PC version.

Digital Deluxe purchasers will also receive the game four days early on May 21, along with the Mercy and Expectation Map Pack, and a BGM Pack with themes from Shin Megami Tensei I, II, IV and IV: Apocalypse.

You can preorder the game right now on Steam and the Nintendo eShop. The game will also receive a physical release for PlayStation 4 and Switch.
