The upcoming Funimation co-production with Yomiuri-TV Enterprise LTD, MARS RED, has just unveiled two new characters coming to the anime, set for a premiere in April 2021.

Say hello to Tokuichi Yamagami and Defrott.

MARS RED anime

Yamagami, voiced by Koichi Yamadera (Sword Art Online, Hunter x Hunter), is the major of No. Sixteen Unit. After taking a version of the V-Virus from some powerful vampires, he ends up outside the ranking of normal vampires.

He’s arrogant, prideful and an expert in classical art and music. And dare we say…charming?

Then there’s Defrott, who will be voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro (FAIRY TAIL, Fruits Basket), a corporal in the No. Sixteen Unit. He’s S-ranked, and despite looking like a young boy, is actually one of the oldest living vampires at 590 years old. Wow.

He’s got the typical British charm and love for beauty, singing and acting. Oh, and he’s also an “infesting type” vampire, which means he can perform hypnosis. So creepy.

MARS RED Anime

MARS RED is based on a dramatic stage reading from the playwright and theatre director Bun-O FUJISAWA. The story takes place in 1923, and vampires have existed for quite a while. Now, the number of vampires is increasing, and a mysterious, artificial blood source called Ascra has appeared!
