The official Japanese manga account for The Promised Neverland anime has revealed that the series’ long-awaited Season 2 has been moved to January 2021, citing the coronavirus as the cause.

The account also announced that a rebroadcast of the anime’s first season will air in October 2020, where Season 2 had originally been planned.

The Promised Neverland, based on the Weekly Shonen Jump manga of the same name, debuted on Japanese television and simulcast during the Winter 2019 season, and ran for 12 episodes. It was produced by Aniplex and CloverWorks.

Its cerebral atmosphere and perseverant characters made it a quick hit with fans, who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Season 2. Given the current circumstances, it’s understandable that the wait will have to be just a little bit longer!
