Being away from home during the holidays (and especially for birthdays!) can be tough. But we’ve got just the thing to make your silver-haired coach feel right at home while sticking close to you. And don’t worry, you don’t have to buy golden good luck charms to do it—though what better time than now? Either way, it’s time to make some pirozhkis!
What you’ll need:
Mood music—we recommend “LoveSpell” by Snowblood- featured in our Yuri!!! On ICE mid-season clip!
1/2 lb ground beef
2 tbsp onion, diced
2 tbsp carrot, diced
salt and pepper to taste
white flour for dusting
2 pkg refrigerated jumbo crescent rolls
garlic powder to taste
fresh dill to taste, chopped
2 tbsp sour cream
2 tbsp water
1 egg yolk
And remember, things will be tastier if you give it all your eros. ^.~
First, start cooking your beef in a skillet on medium heat. Once the beef has begun to firm up, add in the onion, carrot, salt, and pepper. Sauté while making sure to use a spatula to break the beef apart until it browns. Worried your beef is looking a little dry? Just add a pat of butter! Remove from heat and drain the excess grease. Set aside for now.
Next, sprinkle flour on a large flat surface—a countertop or wood cutting board will suffice. Unroll one pair of dough triangles from your crescent roll pack. Make one rectangle of dough by smoothing the perforated segments together. Even out the surface using a rolling pin or lightly flatten with your palm. Cut the dough evenly down the middle and form two square pieces. Repeat with the remaining triangle pairs and flour your surface as needed—you don’t want it getting too sticky!
Also, be sure to keep any pesky poodles away from your ingredients…they tend to go for things they shouldn’t have!
Now’s the time to preheat your oven to 400°F! While the oven heats, we’re going to work on the beef mixture. Add garlic powder, chopped dill, and sour cream to the beef. This is a good time to take a sample bite to make sure the seasoning is to your taste. If not, adjust accordingly. Using a spoon, place equal portions of filling on each square of dough, concentrating the mixture to the middle. Don’t overfill it! Fold over the dough so it forms a triangle and press the edges to seal. Having trouble getting it to seal? Try using a fork to press the edges together.
Place the pirozhki 1-2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat with the remaining dough and beef mixture.
Once you’ve got them all placed on the cookie sheet, poke holes in the top with a fork. Before placing them in the oven, there’s one more step! Mix 2 tablespoons of water with 1 egg yolk and brush it on top of your pirozhki with a basting brush or the back of your spoon.
Now perform that signature quad flip over to the oven (don’t actually do this) and let these tasty treats bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
And that’s it, you’re all done. Look at the deliciousness you’ve just created. If you haven’t already won over the love of your life, giving them these just might do the trick!
