FLOWER MOUND, Texas, Aug. 10, 2015  — FUNimation® Entertainment announced its limited event-style theatrical release of the anime film “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F'” has surged to  $5.97M in box office gross since opening last Tuesday. For the 3 day weekend total, the film brought in $1.81 Million, bringing its total North American gross to a staggering $5.97 Million. With Saturday’s result, “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F'” became the first independent film to make the Top 10 list of highest grossing anime films domestically.

“It’s a great film that loyal DBZ fans, and fans of anime, have helped push into the record books in just 6 days,” said Michael DuBoise, EVP and COO of FUNimation. “Great word of mouth, extremely positive reviews, plus a film that appeals to core fans and is creating new fans, have led to sold-out shows, repeat viewings, and additional theaters being added through Wednesday.”

“Based on the unprecedented success of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F,’ hundreds of theater locations are being added this week to meet demand,” said David Wengrod, VP of Theatrical Distribution for FUNimation. “Don’t miss out on your chance to see this record-breaking movie, as it will be ending its theatrical run this week.”

“Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F'” continues its run in both the U.S. and Canada thru Wednesday, August 12.
