The hallowed halls are ruled by the sadistic administrator Monokuma, who declares that the only way to pass the class is by sending a fellow student home in a body bag.

If you can get away with murder, you’ll get your diploma. But if you’re caught red handed, you’ll find yourself on the receiving end of a deadly detention slip!

When your principal is psychotic and your finals are fatal, high school goes from being the best years of your life – to your last.

Aw!!! They didn’t get the Video Game VAs. After I heard that FUNi received Home Video rights for the series, I had a good feeling that Bryce would definitely reprise Naegi. Guess my sense was accurate.

This is a crushing disappointment. Definitely not buying or watching now.

This really depresses me that only Bryce is coming back from the game because Monokuma, Junko, and Touko all had great voice actors and were perfect. I’m not really happy at all by this to be honest. I’ll still buy it but I may have to watch it subtitled if I do then.

After Funi got the majority of the game casts for BlazBlue and Neptuia I got my hopes up, but I doubted they could pull this off three times in a row. It’s okay, though because Bryce is back as Naegi, and I like a lot of the choices here.

To be fair, this dub was actually recorded a year earlier (around the same time that the game got dubbed and released), so Funimation didn’t know too much about that game’s cast other than Bryce Papenbrook since he worked on AOT and Space Dandy and didn’t expect the game to become as big as it is a year later. Let’s see, however, if Funimation can give the new Haruhi Suzumiya spinoff to Bang Zoom! since that series’ dub is more established than Blazblue’s and Neptunia’s.

Ah, that explains why Bryce was reprising his role. I had read elsewhere that the dub was done a year ago, so I have to wonder what held it up. Dubbing the show a while ago also explains the decision to go with their own cast. I wouldn’t be surprised if the wheels were already in motion before the game came out.

I love the cast already!!! Can’t Wait!!!!

Alright it’s about time, I loved this when it was simulcasting and have bee looking forward to the DUB for some time now.

I wish they (NIS who produced the games and co-chaired the anime production committee) would Green light a second season anime, there are 3 games to this series and I think 4 volumes to the manga.

Its always nice to see Justin Cook in a role considering he’s rarely ever cast anymore beyond that its a pretty typical looking cast for a Chris Bevins dub nothing really special here. It was obvious that Bryce was going to reprise his role anyways I’m expecting the dub to be average fare at best.

“Did they get the game cast for the anime?” is usually something they mention when they announce this stuff, funny that they don’t mention it here, the first anime adaptation in a while that they didn’t get the game cast for, also they’re calling him monobear? please no, even in the simulcast they called him monokuma, so why?

    • thorstwin says:
      April 4, 2015 at 6:11 pm

Uhmm every announcement I’ve seen they have the character listed as Monokuma.

      • renigade67 says:
        April 4, 2015 at 7:38 pm

well actually, I was about to tell you to read the synopsis again, cause there it is listed as monobear, but then I noticed that the cast list does call him monokuma, that’s weird

        • renigade67 says:
          April 5, 2015 at 4:34 am

oh hey, they fixed it, looks like they’re calling him monokuma after all, this makes me happy

    • Jamstar1 says:
      April 4, 2015 at 10:43 pm

      kuma = bear

      • renigade67 says:
        April 5, 2015 at 4:47 am

yeah I know, but kuma sounds more threatening, imagine if Kuma from one piece was just called “Bear” that would be pretty lame, although I guess to Japanese people he is just called bear, huh… anyways the syllable difference would also bug me, name changes like Zoro to Zolo I don’t mind but when you alter the syllable count it changes the way you say things, which can sometimes be important, IMO anyway

Why is everybody so disappointed? I had a feeling that FUNimation wasn’t gonna bring the back same cast from the game (even though I’m supprised that they brought Bryce back to reprise Naegi). Even though they didn’t bring back the original dub cast from the game, it still looks like a pretty awesome cast. I am definitely looking forward to watch it.

Am I the only one wondering why Funimation hasn’t uploaded the first episode of The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki Chan? ;-; The only explanation I can think of is that they have a Broadcast dub in the works. If not, I’d really like to know what the hold up is. >.>

does anybody has A problem with there Funimation app

    • animefan850 says:
      April 5, 2015 at 3:52 pm

I don’t even have the FUNimation app, how do you get it? Is it free or do I have to pay for it?

      • animefan850 says:

Nevermind I have the app now, it was free.

  12. thorstwin says:

OH MY GOD’S!!! Did you hear the news Noragami is getting a second season (Sequel’s!!!!! like an adolescent female teen meeting her favorite Pop Idol [I’m a Dude BTW’s]) It’s based off the manga’s Bishamon arc. So dose everybody got their 5 yen piece ready to entreat the God’s for this blessing

  13. Toslowguard6 says:
    April 5, 2015 at 8:34 pm

OMG!!! THIS CAST IS PERFECT. It’s sad that most of the original cast couldn’t reprise their role, but hey, Funimation probably tried their best! I can’t wait to hear Josh Grelle as Togami and Greg Ayres as Monokuma!

  14. kaminagirl says:
    April 5, 2015 at 9:36 pm

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I’m so glad that you guys just didn’t use the game’s cast (except for Bryce, such despair it’s only him), but I’m not saying all the game’s cast is bad, it’s just I really hated Monokuma’s english voice in the game, so I have REALLY high expectations for Greg. Plus, I guarantee that Jamie will be amazing at Junko, the role was practically made for her!

  15. escope12 says:

I thought the English voice actors wre going to be the ones from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. I wonder what happened?

  16. Sporkaganza says:
    April 8, 2015 at 12:02 am

After playing the game I’m really used to that dub cast, so this will definitely be a weird experience. But I kind of want to watch it now just so I can go “Whoa, that’s weird” at all the voices being different. Plus I never finished the anime.

Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal to me. Based on what I’ve heard the anime is really more of a bonus for people who liked the game and doesn’t stand that well on its own anyway.

  17. escope12 says:
    April 14, 2015 at 8:54 am

Is the extended version of Episode 13 of this show getting dubbed too?
