Nope, not yet! But I'm thinking sometime in 2013, probably in the spring. Can't wait for it to come out!!

Re: Release Date

It only premiered in June, so I wouldn't expect any news until about that time next year.

Re: Release Date

Well!.I was able to attend the Boston showing this past Thursday and Mamaru Hosoda was in attendance and gave some comments thru an interpreter.

Spoiler: Highlight to view
Not intending for spoilers, but the story revolves around Hana, a 19 yr old college student who falls in love with a young man she meets in one of her lectures. Turns out, he is a "wolf man", the last of Japans wolves.

Spoiler: Highlight to view
Shortly after the birth of the second child (Ame) ...Hana is left alone with two children and very little experience on raising wolves!

Spoiler: Highlight to view
Through a series of events, Hana moves with the children to the country based on a photo she got from her husband. They set up a home and grow from there.

While I liked the story to start with, I found I was watching it from the wrong perspective. If you are a parent, you need to look at it from that view point. It is about wondering if you have done enough, or can ever do enough for your children.

The second main focus is from the childrens POV. The story has a narrative from the daughters (Yuki) view of how her mother came to this point in her life and how she managed. The question explored is how and when do each child discover how or where they want their lives to go...what path to take.

There is always room for a new full length Anime from a top director (almost 2 hours long) and Mamaru Hosoda delivers. Comparing it to his other two works, I would rank them:

1. The girl who leapt thru time (still something about this film that gets to me).

2. Wolf Children

3. Summer Wars.

This showng was on the campus of MIT..and it was an enjoyable night!

Re: Release Date

I found a website that played the whole Japanese audio version English subtitled, it's a beautiful anime made me laugh and made me cry and those factors make it a true masterpiece in anime. I hope they make an English dubbed version.
