This...a thousand times, this.

While the main conflict was between the corporations fighting for the Witchblade, that's not what the story was really all about. The story was about family, both blood related and surrogate. It was about the friendships that Masane and Rihoko developed with others as the story progressed. Everyone living in Mary's bar was like a brother and sister to each other. The saddest part of the series is not the ending, but knowing that if Funi and Top Cow don't produce a followup, we won't ever see what all of that meant in the end or how those characters went on living.

I Wish there were plans for a second Season too. As much as I love the ending (It's one of a few anime that has openly made me cry) I Do believe that there's plenty of Wiggle Room for a Sequel. I Still believe that in spite of what happened, Masane is still out there, whether or not she still has the Witchblade though is open for interpretation. I Do feel at the very least I'd like to see a 2-episode epilogue as to what happened after the end, and who knows, maybe she'll tie the Knot with Takayama. We can only wonder at this point.

Re: Witchblade Season 2?

For everyone that says there couldn't be a season 2 of witchblade. I completely disagree, there is plenty of it start a season 2. For example, normally the witchblade kills it's host and moves on to the next person. However at the end of the anime she took the witchblade with her. So there for the witchblade is "destroyed". However in the manga they say that the witchblade may return when the time is right. Now since the witchblade was :destroyed" I figure that if there was to be a season 2. Masane should return with the witchblade still attached to her. Except when she returns she can return to her normal state since she died in the second form of the witchblade. Her daughter should be a teenager by now when she returns and they should be finding away to return her to normal along with at the end of the second season they will find away to successfully get the witchblade of Masane therefore giving her back her normal life. Well that's what I think could or should happen and I belief that it would make a pretty interesting story since all of the other people that were after the witchblade were not killed. I also think that when they make a season 2, in order to get Masane back to her human form. She would have to face the dark side of her in which the witch blade will make a clone of Masane. However this clone will be completely different causing this dark Masane to be able to use the witchblade to it's full potential. During this life or death battle Masane learns how to control the witchblade even better causing a third transformation probably acheiving a perfect ultimate witchblade.

Re: Witchblade Season 2?

I just want to say that Masane is dead. Let's all come to terms. You see her turn into crystal, just like the faker "Cloneblades" did. And in the last few seconds before the credits, you see the dust gently drift out of her eye sockets and I believe nose and hen boom black screen and credits. That was the point of that cinematic few seconds. To generate that effect of "holy cow she is dead noo... and her body dust is starting to float away is it really over?!?!" It hits your gut much harder and personally when your brain confirms in your thought process that you are starin at [beloved character]'s corpse. It brings about a sad finality.

Bringing her back would completely destroy that, and the entire buildup of the seano thus far.

The last few episodes were a sort of beta if you will, in the business world. Very clever tactic seen commonly used in movies all the time.

They trail it off in such a dramatic way. Sometimes you know there will deffinitely be a sequel, and there is. And sometimes they make you wonder. Or leave a few loose ends. Just barely under the limit of what's considered "story-breaking". This way, in the (partially unlikely) event that they do make a season two. They have something to go off of. And can still integrate the plot while still having the option of using (at least mostly)new cast of characters.

(Note: The Masane x Takayama thing. The "tying the knot" you guys have to realize that from a writer's prospective, I assume, it is only serving to show you that not only has she prepared to come to terms with her fate and imminent mortality. But that the Guy is Rihoko's biological father! As viewers, we can now safely speculate that he has been set on a course to be the father he should have always been had he known sooner. The holding hands at the end as Masane is on her death throse ties -that- knot. It gives the two that last final thing in common, to fully tie them together. They both loved Masane.

The beauty of it all is that it at least deserves a Manga short series! Am I right!? It could have a short epilogue of season one, and still take off in a new direction with a new hostess and some new characters.

Strangely, as both a writer and sort of a self-proclaimed businessman. I think once they had enough demand, time and funding they would easily grant us that much.

However please don't fail to remember, the bottom line, this was just a canonized spinoff of the comics, set also slightly ahead of our time some couple dozen years at most. It was meant to be short, be sweet, and be "cute" for lack of a better word. It is NOT the comics. It is NOT Bleach or Naruto. It will not run past 100.

I give it a manga or a season two with different people, at best. But we can all remain hopeful right gentz and gals? Time will tell.

Re: Witchblade Season 2?

Unfortunately, Closure is exactly what was given in this anime! But in a opposite light, so to say! Closure for the main character by doing what was needed to save her family and the people she cared for... It was the reason the Witch Blade existed in the first place! I'm Sorry but closure is in the eye of the be holder and was given to someone in which wasn't seeking power but who was to use it for the right reasons! Read the comic's, You will receive your closure in a sense! Good-Bye and so long, as for now, I have but one thing to say.....

"If they do decide to animize the second season, Take it like a prayer
and don't expect them to make another, because we should only be happy
for what we have and should not be closed for what we do not have"

Re: Witchblade Season 2?

I think there could be a very good chance that Witchblade would receive a second season. according to the origins of the Witchblade and mentioned in the series, the Witchblade has passed through several wielders, so perhaps, Masane wold be like the end of all the wielders yes?

So supposed they introduced previous users the way that Top cow has done in their comics, showing their readers the various era's the Witchblade has progressed through, i loved the ending quite honestly and i wouldn't want to see a rehashment of Witchblade done, only for the fear that the writers themselves could easily become bored having to try to reinvent Masane after her and the Witchblades demise.

i would rather the writers explore a new character a new era and a new situation. i love the idea that the witchblade (according to the orginal comics) doesn't have to bond with someone who is necessarily good, but someone who is a pure of heart, whether that be for righteous intentions or a more insidious reason.

the comics themselves leaves an open window as to the possibilities of a new story, whether or not Gonzo would like to pick it up again is another question. either way i am very p[leased with the series itself but would love to see a round 2.
