Funimation.com hosted on servers from Costa Rica?

Funimation.com should be hosted on American servers in order to improve website performance, sometimes the website is down or loads very slow.

Flagfox shows that the server or domain name is hosted in Central America (Costa Rica to be exact):

http://geoip.flagfox.net/?ip=190.93.241.37&host=www.funimation.com

That might be one of the main reasons for the websites slow performance.

Agreed. Their server hosting has been the source of many of the problems with the site. If that was the only issue, things might not really be that bad. Though I don't believe the hosting was always where it is now either.

No the site isn't located in Costa Rica.Funimation uses CloudFlare, which masks the real ip of the server the site is hosted on.

This is a trace route based search:
http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=lookup&host=www.funimation.com

Wouldn't say this is accurate either, as I know their server was in Texas the last time I recall. Unless that has changed. Regardless, as I said, whatever host(s) they have been using, have been inadequate. It just can't handle the volume of people are peak hours, that has been consistent. The site has been in "Beta" for almost two years now. No website should be in beta for that long.

If they're trying to hide their server host, it could be to prevent people from hacking into it. Sony's been hacked at least twice in the last year or so leading to mass amounts of secure info being leaked. It may prevent something like that from happening but there's no doubt that Shadow is right. It's inadequate and is probably one of the major causes of the site's issues.

Gmail was in beta for 5 years.

I doubt Cloudflare is being used to "mask" anything. To quote Chris on why ANN are using them:

Quote:
Actually, neither ANN nor [dodgy site] are hosted by Cloudflare. CF provides a proxy service (with many benefits), so all traffic to ANN (and [dodgy site] as well as thousands of other sites) is routed through CF proxy servers.
One of the benefits of CF is that it protects the site's servers from attack. Not the main reason we're with CF, but probably the main reason [dodgy site] is.

If nothing else you get a friendly message about the site being unavailable, rather than a generic browser error.

So that explains why it takes 20-30 seconds to load a page and the video never works?

Website is way to slow to load, the pages are not loading correctly. Should be a "my favorite" button right on the home page. Lots of little things but the slow page loads are not a little thing.
