Season 1 was based on the first light novels.
Ended almost exactly like Kazuma No Stigma (Almost predictably)
obvious loose ends creating a very obvious Second Season Possibility
Rumors out there claim they've heard a possible production of a Second
season. Some time the end of 2012 early 2013.
Supposedly the light novels have gained some time to mature.
(Luckily for us the guy writing the series hasn't died --Like with Kazuma---
guaranteeing there NOT to be a second season.)
I only wish that a second season would hurry up, because I'd like it finished. 
Really? Where are the rumors coming from? Any solid sources or just general net chatter? (Not that net chatter can't be right, there have been rumors about licenses by several companies for months and even years right before they were announced by that company.)

on the thought that second season
There might be some hope
in another anime called Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. there was seen where it as was mentioned.
i dont know if that is a good sign but the series at least in japan has not gone away.

I really loved the show and I really hope their is a season 2 coming
it would be nice for a season two but it seems like they have to make a season two. They ended the episode them re-building the town so there has to be a season two and plus sicfried <~ w.e (the man in black) never died so yeah there should be a season two coming out and plus with those Hurricanes and Earthquakes there would be delays on most Anime that are suppose to have season two or three coming out so by the end of 2012 ~ middle of 2013 they should be coming out with season two or three for most shows that are popular.(that is what i am asumming and according to some rumors)
This was a really good Anime i never seem one about blacksmiths :D or maybe i just forgot or never paid attention to blacksmiths untill i saw this show.(it caught my eye in trailer the only reason i watched it was cause Cecilie(how ever you spell her name) looks kinda hawt and that most of the characters voices are in alot of the other anime that i love
you know it's sad that you made a reference to kaze no stigma because that series is never going to continue on unless someone pics up the torch of the late writer... But yes the ending does leave room to continue forward with the very blatantly obvious antagonist.
