Yeah willing suspension of of disbelief is pretty much out the window at this point. But the thing I love about this show is that despite how crazy and unbelievable it is, it still makes sense in it's own crazy way.
This arc has been my least favorite so far I think. As much as I love Yuno being Yuno and Yukii manning up a little bit. I just feel like the whole thing was just a little too close to typical cliché anime romcom tropes, even if none of them were being played entirely straight.

I think that not playing it straight is more then enough for this series since it is also a survival game show that is supposed to and does take center stage.
I personally really enjoyed this episode. It's not exactly normal for kids to act like that but if you think about it, if the kid is extremely intelligent and as warped as time with those parents and that cult would make a person, it all makes a disturbing amount of sense. (Plus, it makes a certain level of sense than merely being a diary holder might enhance the holder in some way.)

Speaking of this, I was having a discussion elsewhere about the appeal of yandere characters, and I honestly couldn't come up with exactly what their appeal is. Obviously they're physically attractive. They sort of have to be for the whole concept to really work(cute on the outside, crazy on the inside). But what actually separates them from the typical hot anime chick or a tsundere, or any other x-dere? Is it her obsessive level of devotion? Is it her dominant and forward nature? Is it just some deep-seated need to fix her brokenness? Is it because her mental instability makes her a thousand-times more interesting than the typical submissive lunch-making anime heroine? All I could come up with is that crazy chicks are hot. Thoughts?
I think it's because they're interesting. Like tsunderes they are entertaining in the ways that they show they care like killing their rivals for yanderes and beating up their love interest for tsunderes
For me, it's the fierce devotion coupled with the absolute conviction and willingness to do anything for the sake of their feelings. I'm very attracted to loyalty and the idea of someone being that devoted is very appealing. Plus I find the Yandere character archetype to be fascinating because although seriously mentally disturbed, they not only can function highly in mainstream society but also generally excell at it. Basically, they tend to be extremely loyal and capable females who can take care of things.
Sure they might be a little dangerous but that's also a part of the thrill. A Yandere is most dangerous when she's not shown enough affection, making them almost a metaphor for relationships too. (Failure to communicate means bad end.) Personally speaking, I think being able to protect one's self and others is a very valuable trait as well, so a Yandere's willingness to hurt or even kill for the sake of their love is something I can consider a plus.
Take Yuno for example: the vast majority of the time, she really is doing the bloody but necessary and practical thing.
And I have to admit, I've got a bit of a "white knight" complex so I like the idea of being able to help someone. Yandere's are often the way they are due to some kind of trauma so there's the possibility of helping them to heal.
Well that's just a few thoughts from me.

The series logic is starting to go a little crazy with episode 7 but what ever this is still fun to watch

Episode was pretty good and as suspenseful as episode 2.
