Future Diary(or Mirai Nikki) is the anime adaptation of the popular manga by Sakae Esuno. Produced by asread studio(Shuffle!, Minami-ke Okawari), it will be simulcast by Funimation on NicoNico. Future Diary is the story of Yukiteru Amano, a introverted loner who spends his days passively observing his world and recording it in his diary. Yuki's World is turned upside-down when Deus ex Machina, what he believed to be a figment of his imagination, turns out to be the God of Time and Space. Deus gives Yuki's diary the power to record events from the future, but Yuki's isn't the only Future Diary and his very future is about to be put in jeopardy...
Misuzu Togashi as Yukiteru Amano
Tomosa Murata as Yuno Gasai
Norio Wakamoto as God. No, seriously.
The OP is boss and creepy as &$#@.
I was pretty apprehensive about this show given the staff & studio's pretty much non-existent track record, but they have really blown me away with this one.
Yuno is a really great character. It's pretty hard to write mentally unstable protagonists and make them likable, but Yuno's obsessive yandereness is kinda cute somehow. I find it funny that Yuno and Yuki have had more romantic developement in 2 episodes than most romantic comedy anime have in their entire series. Even if it's pretty one-sided and I doubt it will last very long...
Edit: I guess someone didn't appreciate my witty thread title...

I watched the 1st episode off of Funi's player (which still freezes on me abit) Overall, this looks like it'll be a pretty good show, I liked the set-up, and the whole survival game premisis is interesting, and becoming lord of TIme & Space if you win ( Wonder if you also get your own TARDIS, lol.) Thats a pretty kick-a$$ prize. I think its safe to say this is deffinantly one of the best shows FUNI got to stream this go around.
LET ME PLAY FOR YOU, THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE!!!
Watched the show and I do find it really funny how Yuno's yandereness is really likeable too! Even in Higurashi with Rena, I really like her but there's just something about her that irks me, so having Yuno be bad-a$$ awesome and so pro-Yuki just makes me wanna give her a hug well done then run away really fast. I'm definately gonna follow this show to the end and hope that once the show is over that we can get a
DVD/Blu-ray combo pack soon afterwards.
PS - I agree, the opening and ending are really cool even if the opening made me feel like I was going to go insane!!
the opening defiantly does go all out, It only represents part of the series though. it would be a LOT better though if funi subbed it. I like the series, as it seems like it will be rather complex, I just hope that the story follows the rules of the phones faithfully, and doesn't forget them.
Tantei's FTW
Any word on what the schedule is for getting this out? The show has already broadcast 4 episodes and we still only have 1 and 2 to watch. Funimation/ninonico have a different meaning for the word "simulcast" than I do! (Let's not even talk about Shana III! - No, let's! When is Shana III gonna be available!!!!)
"Falling isn't flying, its the landing that makes all the difference" - Brad Yoder, Immortal
"I'm a little wolf inside a girl..." - Spice and Wolf, The Wolf Whistling Song by Rocky Chalk
Episodes 3 and 4 are up on NicoNico now.
It continues to be wall-to-wall crazy people and Yuno continues to be awesome. The director is really doing a fantastic job so far. It was amazing how unsettling it was just having Yuno acting normal and going through typical romcom tropes in episode 3 only to pull the inevitable 180° without being jarring. Poor Yuno... she was totally gonna get some action, too.
Episode 4 introduces a couple more diary holders Sixth, who is surprisingly normal despite being some kind of cult leader. And Twelfth, who is probably the most unstable character yet.
Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you.
As long as you remember Her, you are not alone.
The first simulcasts (from Gonzo) were day and date with Japan. In practice, the meaning these days seems to be more "while the show is still airing" rather than actually on the same day. Broadcasters usually get exclusivity so it won't be streamed until the last station has broadcast it - which can be a week from the initial broadcast (so people watching on TV in Japan also have to wait, depending on where they are).
Signature? What signature?
so that is there big deal, so I take it that japan does not trust the region locks (and rightly so) on simulcast
Tantei's FTW
It is not just a matter of trust (although there have been multiple instances of leaks which have caused damage) - would you like it if someone in another country could watch an American show before it was broadcast there? I know I was miffed that the latest Torchwood was broadcast in the US, Canada and Australia before the UK.
Signature? What signature?
well the thing is that it was broadcast in japan before the US in this case, just not on all the stations. and unlike trorchwood or the third season of avatar the last airbender. it was online not on tv. airing on multiple stations is a fairly japanese thing I think, so I will not try and say I understand it. but if it airs on one station then people should be able to watch it on there. fate zero airs on multiple stations and it is able to get a simulcast so I think it is that japan does not trust anyone elses region locks (fate/zero is simulcasted on niconico.jp in english, well before it is put on crunchy).
Tantei's FTW
So far I really like this. Especially the opening. I love that kind of music.
Is the manga for this finished? If not, about how much of the anime will follow the manga?
