Re: Licensing Question

I've seen a 3 in 1 seasons which has all three seasons (Japanese audio only), think there is any chance of dubbing that? If they sell all of em in one package it might sell better. Even with the voice actors as bad as they are.

Re: Licensing Question

I dont know about anyone else, but i bought The Familar Zero and very much liked it. Thought it was like a harry potter with a twist anime. I paid good money for this anime when it was released. I would like to see the other seasons of it. In fact you should feel obligated to follow through with putting them out for the people that bought the anime, like me. Its like buying a book that you like with the pages ripped out the end. WOULD U BUY PART OF A BOOK AND EXPECT NOT TO READ THE REST OF IT. I DONT THINK SO.... If you dont follow through to the end, i can promise i wont be buying the anime until i know that alllll the seasons are out for sure and im sure you have heard this from others as well. I know cause i am on the forums reading and chatting with people on several different anime sites.

It has already been stated here that FUNimation won't be releasing any more of this series, and the existing volumes are OOP. FUNimation did not dub the original series, it was commissioned by Geneon and done on a shoestring (reputed to be done by interns IIRC). Sentai have rescued another ex-FUNimation/Geneon title, Rozen Maiden, and in that case they have commission a dub by Bang Zoom! for consistency, although in that case it is only two episodes that require dubbing, not a few home seasons.

Re: Licensing Question

I really find it hilarious that people REFUSE to accept NO as an answer...

I know you PEOPLE want it badly enough.... But as I said before... License it YOURSELF... do your homework and find out how HARD it is to even Acquire such licenses. Then again, I think it is SO MUCH EASIER to be the person on the receiving end "Complaining" when things don't go your way.

Fact: AMERICA IS BROKE - we don't have money to bring things over from other countries.

Fact 2: FUNimation is JUST ONE company out of how many Anime Licensing/Dubbing firms are there:
(Go knock on Ban Dai, Sentai FilmWorks, or AnimeWorks doors. I'm sure they'll tell you the same things.)

Fact 3: I know a lot of you are not only smart enough, but completely capable of starting a website and acquiring Permission from the anime studio (in some shape or form) in negotiating terms (I'm sure they'd rather their stuff be released "Legally" aka via "Permission" than posted illegally via ISOhunt or another Torrent Site... Believe me, if they're stupid enough to think that That ISN'T going on right now, think again.

Fact 4: If Zero No Tsukaima wasn't successful in JAPAN then they probably wouldn't be currently in production on a 4th SEASON (officially confirmed) ---Expected sometime in 2012.... along with a Third Season of Hayate No Gotoku (J.C.Staff Style).... There's a lot more coming out just watch carefully.

---FINALLY, one of you lazy people wants to finally put your working mouth into action and license and/or SIMULCAST the final Season of Zero No Tsukaima then by all means I'll Applaud you. It's about time an American did something besides watch OTHERS WORK.

And for the record - I am an animator. But I'm not about to lose to these Japanese people. I will produce animation that makes THEM want to come over HERE to purchase MY stuff. I'm currently working on local market animations, but I'm sure when I feel confident enough to take the challenge, then I'll be there at the competition to reclaim America as the foundation of Traditional and Digital animation. (In other words, I'm not going to sit back and do nothing in hopes that SOMEONE ELSE will do what I want them to do FOR ME.)

I love Zero No Tsukaima myself. However, the series has not gone in a direction that I would have hoped that it would have gone in. I like Louise. I like Saito (to a point) I still would like him to mature a bit more (and not in the perverted sense). I like most of the other characters as well. However, I think it would be (or would have been) more interesting if the series drew a tangent leading Saito and Louise (Most likely-- or maybe one of the other girls would be fine too) out of this "Magical World" and back to Saito's Reality and bend the two worlds together causing an even bigger crisis.... Now doesn't that sound like an even more exciting twist? I have only added a tiny concept to the table that will never be considered by the animation staff at J.C.Staff in regards to this series. That's where I think this series REALLY lacks.
Other than that, I like what this series has started.

(I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO THE CONCLUSION OF ZERO IN SEASON 4 THIS NEXT YEAR)

Re: Licensing Question

Okay, okay, late to this I am.
The capital will need to be raised first, which will take a few years, my Japanese is coming along at a steady enough pace, branching out in the new generation of the voice acting community, it will indeed be a hard dream to make reality. Just as you put it Nick, something like this isn't as simple as one would hope to believe. It takes hard work and dedication to make something succeed and maybe some people have simply forgotten that fact. Something an actor knows quite well, where everything must be thrown into a role to make it work no matter how small the part.
Will the three seasons that remain get an official dub? I really can’t answer that question. Will I do what I can to see that it does, whether that be currently building momentum or licensing myself in the future? Yes.
Whatever the case, maybe I just hope people see this as, let’s say a test of sorts, that if you truly believe something even as simple as this topic, that you will not give up on it no matter how the odds are stacked.
-Love and Peace!

I did not think the voice actors where bad. Saito was a perverted goof anyway the guy made think he was the character.I am sorry if you guys disagree I mean no offense. I do not think talking bad about the dubbing would help the other seasons get dubbed.I do think selling them together would be good for sales.

Re: Licensing Question

I thought the casting was mostly fine with a few weaker performers here and there and some real gems too.

In my opinion, the real problem was in the production side. The director didn't even have the names pronounced consistently. And not in a minor "they stressed that sylable a bit too much" kind of way but in the "wait, are they talking about a different character?" kind of way. The same problem popped up in Nanoha with Arf's name.

Personally, what I wish is that someone would re-do the dub with most of the same cast but a proper budget for line re-takes and a better director fully familiar with the material.

Re: Licensing Question

I'll easily agree with you on that Richard.
Though I wasn't the biggest fan of the dub overall, including the reasonings you stated, I still purchased the series.

Even without the dubbing budget the licensing for distibuting subbed in the US would suffice for many fans in this case.
1) Many people are fans of Rie Kugimiya when she gets type casted as she really does fit the part
2) Under my immediate impression Zero no Tsukaima F will be focusing more on the ending of the series than the fanservice that had said was to prevolent in Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo and Futatsuki no Kishi. Despite myself enjoying that bit and it being very important to the story at times I really would like this season to end it more strongly like S-cry-ed and TTGL was handled in a way all those years ago; with a huge emotional strike.
3) Having Noboru Yamaguchi in direct contact with this project if comforting.

Re: Licensing Question

It is the right time for Funimation to pick up Zero no Tsukaima F since they are simulcasting now. They will know exactly how much demand Zero no Tsukaima has. For S1 there was too much of a time gap . Depending on that viewer numbers on the 4th season they can consider dub and dvd production of the entire series similar to what they did for One Piece.

Re: Licensing Question

strong simulcast numbers would really help the series chances, this however assumes that someone does simulcast the series, and gives it a chance.
