The weird thing is that I've seen the release dates for both universe and tokyo as well as the movies but I have yet to see anything for the first handful of ova's.

Universe and Tokyo have both been solicited to retailers, but the Movies have not been, and therefore no official date has been announced yet. I'm curious to know where you saw a date for the Movies.
Uh, Chrstmas comes first, my friend. I'd LOVE to get them but at $70 a pop for EACH set, really, there's gotta be some leeway here. ~_~ I'm not amused here guys. Funimation, I thought you were supposed to give us to them at a DECENT price. This is just as bad as if Geneon released it themselves.
And from what I've seen from the pics, the Blu Ray upconversion isn't even 1/2 the upgrade it should be for the money. The movies are 10-15 years old people! This is nuts to ask for $70 just to get them on Blu/DVD. The others were much better priced than these. Seriously, what the hell gives here, and they didn't even get Blu Ray remasters. I don't want to wait for them to go to the S.A.V.E. library but you've given me no choice here. This pricing is outrageously bad.

Fret not, you won't have to pay that much. Don't forget, thats just MSRP (and thats the standard MSRP that ALL of FUNi's Bluray LEs go for, so its not like its unusually high or anything). But stores don't actually sells it for that price. You would have to really go out of your way to find someplace thats NOT selling them for a discounted price.
For example:
Rightstuf has them both for about $40 each
Amazon is selling them for about $50 each
Hmm, only a smidge difference between SD and HD. HD just has less video noise and slightly more saturation, maybe a smidge smarper.
Well, I'm still eagerly awaiting this release. Would like an update on release.
All I can say is that it will be coming (eventually), but sadly, I won't get the subtitles I want.
