Got the collection today along with the Movies, and was slightly dissapointed by the lack of the 3rd OVA. Funi give any reason for this?

The Japanese version never included the 3rd OVA. I was disappointed in this to because I never got to watch the 3rd OVA before. Its not FUNimations fault its Japan. I'm actually kind of glad it wasn't included. I watched OVA 3 on FUNimations youtube channel recently and have to say its quite disappointing. This set states its the "complete" OVA collection when its not and its misleading. The 3rd OVA release was called Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki. Thats the title of ALL 3 OVA's not just the 3rd one. It's not FUNimations fault its Japan and Pioneer/Geneon of America with the titles and FUNi trying to stick with the same titles.
Ah I see, I found the boxset that had the last 7 episodes and got it cheap of Ryo-Ohki
Aside from being made years after the first 2, it had plotholes and overall just didn't feel like Tenchi to me. Was barely better than GXP. That, and...I REALLY missed hearing Petrea Burchard's Ryoko that it didn't have.
The 3rd OVA series is published by a different Japanese company than the first two, and also has never been released on Blu-Ray (yet).
Of course, you can always bundle everything together yourself.

Yeah you're not the only one. A lot of people were confused on that and started blaming FUNimation for their Ryo-Ohki release.
It didn't feel like Tenchi to me either. To be honest I was more sad than disappointed that it ended the way it did in OVA 3 because it had many problems and isn't the Tenchi Muyo I knew when i grew up with it. Yeah Petrea Burchard was great as Ryoko. I never got to finish GXP. I didn't like the first 2 episodes. The first episode I gave it a chance and thought "It's the first episode I'll let it go and see how episode two is". Then while watching episode 2 I fell asleep. And I never fall asleep while watching a TV show or a movie. And I wasn't even tired. Something has to convince me to go back to watch GXP because I can't watch that show. I think I'm finished with Tenchi. And I mean the newer shows. I'm still a fan though.
Yeah, I got Universe Tokyo, and the Movie Collection. All in all the point where Funi recasted Petrea Burchard was where I stopped. Mona Marshalls Ryoko just doesn't have the same vibe. OVA 3 just felt off, and not right.
I loathe GXP. Hated Seina, and the other characters, even if it takes place in the official continuity...I just can't like it. Seina is just to much of a terrible jump from Tenchi whose possibly one if not the best harem Male protagonist - Seina whose the cliche loser who gets it all with a stupid personality that I didn't enjoy. At all.
Petrea Burchard was perfect as Ryoko, and I had her sign one of my Tenchi poster in the past. She's an awesome actress, and I really wish she did more. I grew up with her Ryoko, and hearing it changed so simply just really annoyed me. Funi did it with the Trigun movie, and it pissed me off even more.
Same here. I have the Geneon box sets of Universe and Tokyo. I heard the FUNimation ones don't have the special features like in the Geneon releases. Its nice they get to re-release these but what about those nice special features that could have been included? Like The TV Promo Commercials, Theme Song Music VIdeos, Character art and sketches?
As much as I love my FUNimation DVD/Blu-Ray Tenchi OVA and Movies set, they are far from perfect. I expected it to be better. Geneon/Pioneer were able to have some little special things in their DVD's. Even if they were minimal. But these Funimation sets were the same like my other FUNimation titles. Basically trailers! -_- And they even forgot to add the Tencho Movie Set trailer on that set! They had the OVA trailer on the OVA set... What I'm trying to say is they could have done a lot better. Just adding the 3rd Tenchi movie trailer because it was in HD. The others 2 movie trailers aren't in HD but who cares? They are rare clips. Add it in there! lol Ya know?
Oh yeah about GXP. Which one is Seina again? The Tenchi wannabe? lol. I can't like it either. He annoys me. I don't like his character at all compared to Tenchi. Petrea Burchard is really awesome as Ryoko. You met her? That's so cool! I would like her to sign one of my Tenchi DVD's or my art book. Take a picture with her too haha. That's awesome. I really liked the English Dub cast. They somehow blended in well with the characters. Especially Ayeka that sounds close to the Japanese actress! When you listen to that voice actress' normal voice you'd be like, "she's Ayeka?" lol. They're all talented. Even the Japanese cast.
I never seen the Trigun movie. I haven't completely seen the whole Trigun show to be honest. I like it its just i haven't finished it. The dub is really good. I haven't checked the Japanese version but the English cast fits well for the characters. I should finish that show some time.
