Will there be an iOS update sometime... this century?

I mean seriously, the iPhone 5 and iPod 5th Gen have both been out for how long? A iOS 6 update would be great, since the black bars on both sides of the screen are getting on my nerves. I only use the app to stream episodes (especially some of the simulcast titles) but that seems to be where most of the problems lie. I could go on for a while with a few things that could be helped, but I think just browsing through the recent (and even several months-back) reviews on the app will give you the general idea. It feels like the app has been forgotten and riddled with bugs. I've been wanting to make this topic for months, but I guess now is as good as ever. I can understand some bugs still existing, but the lack of an iOS 6 update is tragic (every other major streaming app I have works with it, heck Crunchyroll has even been doing a great job with updating and has seen unbelievable improvements since iOS6).

According to iTunes, the last update was August 10th, 2012. I don't even have a comment for that...

Ultimately, this is an issue that you'll need to take to the app's developer, Phunware.

We're aware from our end that many people want an update to the app, but Phunware is the one that's actually responsible for the updates themselves.

I'm sorry CJ, I know you're not responsible, but this response shows me more and more why I don't think I want to do business with Funimation anymore. I can understand outsourcing, but in the end you guys are responsible for who you license out your product to and how it is presented. Funimation should have a say in this matter. Funimation should strive for quality in anything that is remotely connected to its name. That's how you build a happy customer base, one that is willing to tell their friends about you and get you even more money. I have no words to describe how Funimation is utterly failing in this respect. Not sure if this whole streaming anime thing is just an afterthought or what's going on, but someone is totally missing the potential or is incompetent (or both). I give up, I know this post nor any of my others are likely to change anything. Peace out...

I know exactly how you feel. I've made it very clear in a post a while ago that Phunware does not even attempt to bother responding to support. So saying they are responsible is fine but when they dont bother supporting there product they are developing then it comes down to Funimation to take responsibility that the customer is happy. This for the most part was my response I got back.

Quote:
It isn't that we "can't do anything", it is that we are already doing the things we can do and, as per our agreements with Phunware, we are unable to provide technical support for, or alter, their product.

So basically Funimations hands are tied.

There's not a whole lot we can do about the app and it's development. If we didn't have it outsourced to Phunware (or a company like it) it simply wouldn't exist.

That isn't the same thing as saying we're not taking responsibility for our customer's satisfaction, but it does mean that, in this particular area, I can't make any kind of official statement or fix things because it's not our systems running things. We're talking with Phunware about updates already and this is already in process, as far as I'm aware. But really, any apology or explanation I make on this, I'm making on behalf of a company I don't work for, and I am not only uncomfortable with that, but it also wouldn't really mean anything.

As always, if you have any complaint at all about your EVS subscription, you should let know about it. That is an area within our immediate control that we can deal with and handle.
