Dear Funimation!
I understand that at streamings you need to block viewers outside the US because of licensing, but I do not understand why you are blocking the forums too. Could someone please enlighten me?
People outside the US buy DVD and BR too released by you, so would be nice if the forums would not be US only...
Thanks.

Good question, I'd like to know that aswell. Maybe they don't want european rabble in their forums ^^ or it's a technical/license/legal-thing.
I don't think any of the forums are blocked, if your getting such a message, may just be a glitch with the forums server, either way I'd PM Sophie about it.
The Revolutoin Will be Televised once more, Every Saturday Night! Can you hear the Absolution?
The forum is geofiltered, if I don't use a VPN I get this:"Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, this site is not available in your country."
Unfortunately the forum is definitely blocked.
In mather of fact, 95% of the funimation.com website is blocked. Not just streaming, almost everything. People outside the US can't even acces a show's info page, we can't even watch trailers. Not to mention that they are blocking the fanarts, cosplay pictures, news, etc too. We can list the shows, but can't watch it's trailer or see it's product page. Funi went a little overboard with the geofiltering, they are blocking content that they shouldn't.
At least I never heard that a forum, a picture taken on a convention, an anime's description or an anime's free trailer would have to be blocked due to licensing
So the question still stands, why is 95% of a company's website blocked away from 99% of the world? Parts that are not even under licensing restrictions.
Or the website's engine is not up-to-date to only block the content under licensing (streaming of episodes) and you handle this by blocking almost the entire website ?
doesn't work any more
Good for you
Hungary is still blocked
Well, it doesn't work any more
, yesterday it worked fine. Now, I need a VPN again to access the forums ("You are not authorized to access this page."). I wonder why no one from funi replies to this topic or at least a mod moves it to "tech support" where it belongs.
Thread moved at OP's request.
English dubs rule! Spread the love, raise the profit, get more anime.
Nipa! My finals are over! Nipa!
Thank you for reporting. I can request that the site is opened up a bit more.
Thank you Sophie!
Now it is possible to read the forum and reach much more of the website as guest, however the account creation and login is still blocked, so people outside the US can't creat an account or login with their existing one, so we can not post on the forums
At least I tried to login and create an account with my default Hungarian IP and nothing happened (not even xy blocked message), I switched to US IP and I was able to login without any problem.
