I recently upgraded to an Elite Subscription, but the videos freeze often to load, even when playing at 480. I didn't have this problem when I had a free account, and those videos seemed to stream freely instead of buffer like the Elite videos do. Any way to get my free-account speeds with my Elite Subscription account?

What browser are you using? Any add-ons or anything of the sort? Also what is the transfer speed of the video while you are watching it (if using Windows go to Task Manager, Performance, Resource Monitor, and it will show under the Network Activity under the Network tab...probably listed as a Plugin container, but unless you have a lot of other bandwidth intensive things going on you can just look at the overall Kbps Network I/O.) That's the easiest way to look at the speed the packets are reaching you I know of. I use a bare bones fresh install of Chrome with no add ons and nothing set different from the defaults when I want to watch EVS vids, and really never have a bit of a problem unless the whole Web site is down.

I'm using the latest Chrome update, no add-ons. I average around 515 kbps. I haven't changed my browser settings since getting Elite.

It all depends on the encoding, but unfortunately that is nowhere near fast enough to stream HD. You need at least 3-4 Mbps for HD (I opened up chrome next to this firefox window and logged into Funi and am playing Robotics;Notes in 720p at about roughly 5Mbps with no choppiness, loading, or speed problems. I moved it down to the EVS' lower 480p resolution and it backed down to 1-2 Mbps, it's running smoothly there so I think that is about what you need for it. Their EVS player is whats called an adaptive bitrate player, and it tries to compensate for any speed loss by lowering resolution and then having to stop to load in worst case scenarios. Hulu (which is what their free streams typically go through) seems to have a bit of a lower threshold for needed transfer speed (they recommend a minimum of 1Mbps) so that might be why you have better luck there....I'm not positive though just making an educated guess.

I only stream at 480p, so I'm not too sure what the problem is. I know I at least have 1-2 Mbps. I've tried the Adobe Flash Player settings (Accelerating Hardware; unlimited local storage for Funimation videos) and that doesn't help either.
I have to say, I don't think there's a problem on my end. I can watch Youtube and Crunchyroll on 480p without a problem. After doing a little digging, it's not hard to find others that find something wrong with the Funimation playback. Truth be told, I signed up for an EVS trial half a year ago and had the same problems I do now.

I agree that their video service is not yet where it should be in consistency and reliability. They have supposedly been working on a Web site revamp for the past 6-8 months that is supposed to fix everything, but I haven't heard much about it lately. I mostly subscribe to EVS now for the Roku app. it is probably one of the best values in entertainment I have gotten. I watch it as much or more than I do cable each month, and my monthly cable bill is twice what the roku cost as a one time purchase.

I can tell you that, if the issue is on our end, and you were having it half a year ago, the underlying cause of the specific issue has more than likely been fixed.
However, we are seeing a new issue cropping up with the EVS player pausing. This issue is currently under investigation.
You can find out more about the issue, as well as submit your findings, here:

Please include the results of your internet speed test.
I'm going to lock this thread, since we have an official thread for discussion of this issue, now.
