I did reach out to the developer and received a sort of nebulous answer to the effect of, "We're aware of the issue and are dilligently working to resolve it. We'll post an update to the Google Play Store when we've fixed it." The app in the Play store appears to have been last updated in August, so I'm not confident bugs are frequently addressed and remedied. Perhaps Funimation as the content provider could try working the other end of the discussion with Phunware? This issue is coming between your content and your paying customers.
pylinaer - Can you send a screenshot of what you're talking about with the regular player to ? I'd like to take a closer look at that, if it's not an issue with the EVS player-- it might be something totally different.

I don't currently have a way to test the Android app specifically, but the iOS app seems to be working fine at the moment. Are you still having issues with the apps?

Also, the site on my computer is again tanking...and badly. it takes about 7 seconds for the front page to load along with the profile page. The forums front page takes ~30secs to load and for a subforum or thread, it takes about 14secs. these page load times are HORRIBLE. This is for.. interestingly enough, PC only. Page load times for my Android are good except Firefox, but Firefox is slow all around on Android and the load time is about the same as other sites.
If you're still having these kinds of issues with the app, you'll need to contact the developer.
If you are having issues with the actual funimation.com site, however, that's something we can address, here, though it's mostly being addressed in the stickies, currently.
Just a heads up for you, I have been in contact with Phunware, and this is the response I recieved:
Quote:
FUNimation is currently experiencing issues with their servers, which is why this issue is occuring. We are working diligently in resolving this issue. Unfortunately, there is ETA as to when this issue will be resolved, but we ask for your continued patience and support in this matter.
Sincerely,
Adam @ Phunware
So, it seems, they are placing the blame at this time squarely on your shoulders. One must love corporate run arounds. Not to say it is Funi's fault, but that is the impression the app developer is putting forth to one and all.
crashing continues. I got the same run story. not apps fault it is server then told server is fine it is app. I paid for the app and pay monthly for subscription but can not use any of it reliably. I warn everyone that this is beta and as such it is mostly unstable so don't buy in unless you are okay with poor stability. Roku streaming is bad, tablet and cellphone bad, computer is iffy. is there any other way short of just buying the video outright?
Hi I don't really come on here but I figure I help out. well I have been using the paid APK with an elite sub. and just noticed this today that both paid and free apk currently shut off while selecting a show in the show menu. but as I look at the scroll it has been happening on all devices... I noticed that this did not effect Roku which I use or a PC.... so I looked further into this... these are the devices I have used and all get the same results... GT-P3113, GT-P3100, GT-P5100, SG-P5100, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, HTC one, HTC evo 3D, and an LG optimus elite. so it must be a APK Issue. Did you guys try look in the linkage for transitions between windows...and or maybe its a os issue as all these devices are GB,ICS, and or JB. all in all it didn't seem to play on any. and was there an APK update recently? . currently the APK packet is @ build v2.1.405 .....can I get an earlier apk atleast the previous apk or the one before that previous one please(as I don't mind running older versions as to sometimes they are better suitable for certain devices).looking at the build maybe v2.1.404 or 403 would be prime to use.. oh and I can paste some screen shots but your hot keys and buttons seem to be broken....hot keys and button on site currently tell me type error: url is not defined??? maybe gotta check that too? anyways if theres anyway I can help let me know if not I'd give you screen shots but I guess your services are currently out of service email me if anything.
Edit: and if not it probably could be a server issue as well, had I not though thought about it further into writing this.
Having the same problem with the paid version, app crashes on the shows page on my TF-300T and my Galaxy SII. Nothing like purchasing products that don't work...
I have been not been able to get the player to work on a Nexus 7 or an Asus a500. Problems identical to what has been observed. I can however, using Dolphin browser, view the flash player on the website.
Is it possible that the app is trying to force Flash onto the devices and that is the source of the issues?
We're looking further into this issue, and hopefully I'll have some more news for you guys, soon.
We've been able to confirm that it's not an issue that's preventing all Android users from watching all videos-- every internal test we've done has resulted in being able to watch videos, though sometimes it's taken a try or two. We've also not been able to reproduce any issues (aside from the ongoing ones we know about) with the iOS app, which is a bit weird because usually what will affect one will affect the other, unless there have been major software updates on the phone OS side.
We are having issues with our site, but my understanding of those issues is that they are not at the server level, at this point, or with the videos themselves-- however, they certainly were at a server level two weekends ago when the EVS videos went down, so it's possible they're acting with old information.
I'll have some updates for you guys on this as soon as I have them.

Dolphin browser is probably one of the top browser's for playing flash and is exceptionally good right now since jelly bean OS does not support adobe flash....
I don't think force flash would be the issue. I have looked into that..... Further more all my testing right now has a led me away from from this being an apk issue and leading towards a server issue.. But I haven't figured out why.... That's up to the Funimation team
How ever if you guys are running different browser and or want to use adobe flash? I pm me and I can give you a version of the apk that will install on jelly bean OS
