Just saw the film and it was AWESOME! Seriously when are they going to start work on the sequel?
Always glad to see someone else has enjoyed this film.
As for a sequel though...I kind of doubt they'll make one. I can't imagine how they could make one without it being a cheap cop-out, but if Hosoda (the director) himself could come up with a story for it, I'd be all for it.
That said, whatever Hosoda does next, I wish he'd announce it already.

I don't think they'd ever do a sequel, to be honest. And for me, I prefer that the story ends there instead of them making a sequel movie that doesn't live up to the standards of the first one.

Well, I'd at least like them to continue the story in an OVA series or something rather than just let it lie, wouldn't you? Like they said, they barely knew each other. That would give them time to actually get to like each other a little more.
They could call it something else other than Summer Wars... or have it in parenthesis or something like that but just have a different title. But it would at least be nice to see the story continued at least briefly enough to see them get through college or something similarly to Love Hina Again or something. At least that's my opinion on the subject. But I don't think another movie is required to tell all of that.
I highly doubt there will be a sequel. But you should all check out his new movie "Ookami kodomo no ame to yuki"
