So far so good if you ask me. The plot has to be simple, and I'm glad it's sticking with that formula. Part of what I like best about Strike Witches is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Also glad that they're pretty much making this movie a sequel to the second season instead of a rehash of the whole thing.

I was convinced it would be a movie-long clip episode from some of the rumors floating around the Interwebs. Thank Haruhi this it will be a sequel. (An original story set in the same timeline would also have been acceptable, if our favorite girls had a cameo.)
