I loved the series, and It's been a long time since funimation licensed the show. I'm not sure if Funi will ever release stuff for this show atm. I'd be a guaranteed day 1 buy of the series. I really hope you guys decide to release a box set..

Will this ever be released on blu ray?
They'll probably release it in the later part of this year. The last volume comes out in Japan this month, so they'll probably have to wait 6 months minimum before releasing it.
I'm so looking forward to this show, I do hope they release it on Blu-ray. With any luck it will include the special. I hope FUNimation will be able to pick up the movie as well.
From what I've read, in general the earliest a show will be released in North America is six months after the Japanese release. Sometimes it is longer, case in point, Strike Witches 2, although I read that this was delayed due to the box set being released in Japan this month...but I digress.
This is so that they can keep reverse importation to a minimum. Blu-ray are so much cheaper here in North America (sometimes up to ten times cheaper) that apparently it is not uncommon for some Japanese fans to wait for the North America release and import it back to Japan.
Japan had a bluray release and Funi has been releasing lots of bluray anime lately. I'm sure whenever Funi gets around to releasing it (maybe late 2012?) that there will be a bluray/dvd combo of some sort.

I asked Rojas during the Funimation Q&A over youtube a couple of weeks ago. He said it will be coming out later this year (2012).
Considering how Funimation has been releasing all their other recent shows, I would expect this one to get a DVD / Blu-ray combo pack in a chipboard art box as well.
I hope this comes out sooner rather than later. I've heard good things about this anime and look forward to watching it.
