So, now that you've seen Slayers--I can hope you've seen it anyway--which character is your favorite?
As for myself, I have never been able to like anyone except the fiery loud-mouth sorceress herself Lina Inverse.
I like Lina mostly, because she has managed to come through in the fact of near impossible insurmountable odds, and has saved the planet more times that most people really remember.
Its difficult for me to choose just one favorite character. Especially because I so enjoy the interplay between all the different personalities.
If I had to choose only one favorite... I'm tempted to say Xellos, but I guess I'll have to go with Lina.
She's just such a very villainous heroine, its difficult not to like her. Powerful, selfish, greedy, gluttonous, and habitually saves the world. Surprisingly endearing traits.
My favorite is definitely Amelia. What with her 'Justice!' yells from the tops of towers, just to her being adorable, I couldn't resist her charms.
Another favorite would be Xellos. Why? Well, I would tell you but...it's a secret. (and that in itself is a reason).

Bit of a late post, here, but I must choose Amelia for favorites. She's absolutely hilarious.
I'm watching Japanese Slayers for the first time on Hulu (and, despite my expectations, her seiyu is as fantastic as Veronica Taylor, thought I think the way the latter says "justice" gives her a slight edge), and episode 13 has what's so far her most hilariously insane moment.
"Justice always prevails! So whoever triumphs is the righteous one!" BOOM!
"Of course you realize, this means war!" -- Bugs Bunny
"Here we gooooo!" -- Mario
That would be Lina. That fact that she was never really trying to be the hero just someone who steals from bandits then became the most terrifying person in the land was great.
Yeeah...that's changed. My favorite Slayers character is now the one you see as my avatar.
I think Try was what cemented Xellos as my favorite, where he shows both how humorously and charmingly twisted he is, and how creepy and threatening he could be. It helps, too, that his seiyu, Akira Ishida, is one of the highlights of the Japanese cast (along with Hayashibara). A cast of actors is lucky to have one who so completely melds with the character that it's hard to imagine anyone else doing the role--Slayers' Japanese cast has two.
And it also helps that the creative staff continually keep his appearances to a minimum, so he doesn't have the potential to annoy like the rest of the main Slayers cast.

For me it is easy to choose who my favorite character is; There is something about Lina Inverse that makes me like her so much. To me she is just like a normal human, she can be selfish, greedy and short-tempered but when it matters most she is always there to save the day.
Tough choice, but i'd say it's a tie between Lina and Zelgadis. Though, (in terms of fav villian from the series) I was initially impressed with how badass Zumma was, although I was kinda let down with his development in the later eps of Evolution-R (mostly for his logic as to why he hated Lina so much and his ending, it could've been better).

I like all of the characters. The only character I couldn't stand is Filia; that bitch needs to be flowersed silly, or pushed down a set of stairs.
