I just watched american Shin-Chan for the very first time, and i must say, if i would have known what you done to it, i rather would have slit my flowersing wrist. You desecrated a great mans work, and act like you own it - you only licensed it you own nothing! Stop it will you? what the flowers is wrong with you people? Are you retarded or something like that? This must stop - seriously. Otherwise i hope death will find you swiftly.

If the dub was that dreadful, watch it subbed..
I believe that the Funimation version is far superior to the original and I shall continue to buy Funimation's dub for as long as they make it.
If you watched the second half of this 1 and a half minute video, you will see that Funimation had the full endorsement of the team who made the original Shin Chan.

Obviously you've never had to deal with anything even remotely approaching a serious problem in your entire life. You're complete lack of a respect for human life is both sad and disturbing. I like some of the things funimation has done with the show; the pop culture references make it seem more modern, however, some of the liberties they've taken with the script such as Happiness Bunny when he first comes to life, I doubt he actually says he's stroking himself while he is watching t.v. I think I'd like funimation to have an unaltered version subtitled with translation and cultural notes just to see the show in its original context. Other then that, I've been having a great time watching the show I needed a good laugh.

Thank you for letting us know your opinion of the FUNimation Shin chan release. I'm sorry you feel that way and completely understand. There are plenty of shows that I think were dubbed horribly too, and these were more faithful adaptations to their originals, than the Shin chan dub is.
However, the dub release of Shin-chan is an adaptation, which FUNimation does have the license to create and did get the approval from the Japanese licensor for.
The sub is the sub, and the dub is the dub. A dub need not be 100% faithful to its Japanese counterpart all the time. That's what an adaptation is.
If you don't like the FUNimation version, then don't buy it or watch it. Please just support the releases that you enjoy.
If you want to support only the Japanese version, then buy the Japanese release.

I tend to think that dubs don't go so well with older anime, in fact I've been watching all of Ranma 1/2 subbed for that reason alone. Even just watching the trailer at the top I can get an idea of where he's coming from not liking this version, although it would have been preferred to be said in a more civilized manner.

As far as I know I think FUNimation hoped they could've done a more authentic dub when they first got it, but ultimately they looked at it and said it wouldn't work. The original show as is, in terms of how it would be perceived to American audiences, is too adult to be considered appropriate for kids, but too kiddy to be considered an adult show. And if they went for a straight dub there probably wouldn't be enough core anime fans that would be interested in it. And of course there's the foreign humor that doesn't translate well. I kind of prefer the Japanese version over FUNimation's and i think they could've found a better balance between taking liberties and being true to the original. They didn't have to make it a totally MA series. But i understand why FUNimation did what they did, it's justifiable.
As for why they haven't made a subtitled version, there are two reasons that I know of. Adam Sheehan said at a panel I went to that because the episodes are rearranged entirely in combination with being totally rewritten, if people were to watch the Japanese version the characters would be talking about things that they wouldn't have any idea of in context of the storyline. Another reason they don't release the Japanese is because they're just not allowed to. I talked to Gen Fukunaga at Anime Expo one year and he told me they wanted to but they couldn't clear certain rights with Japanese voice actors. That makes me wonder how they were able to include some Japanese episodes on one of the DVDs but still it makes sense. I've even heard from a friend that the particular studio that does "Crayon Shin-Chan" doesn't really release the Japanese versions of their show internationally either. And when I went to a "Shin-Chan" writers panel and they showed clips of the Japanese version they didn't even play the audio. They just showed the footage and the writers read off the Japanese script timed to the lip flaps. So there you go.
