Re: Shana 2 to be released on Blu-ray this Fall

I noticed that on the Amazon pages for season 2, the actors listed are the original actors for the main Characters. Could it be possible that got the original cast for the main characters? I'm sure nobody would really miss the supporting cast all too much. Shana, Yuuji and Alastor are the ones that really count, at least in my opinion.

That could be an error since Funi's going to dub it in-house, unless if they get some people from S1 for the dub, but it's doubtful.

I just hope to gawd FUNi's doing their own upscale. The Japanese Blu-rays look really, really bad (S2 looked worse than the already bad S1). Fansub groups refuse to do it because of the horrible quality.

For comparison, season 1.

Just me asking, Has FUNi given a reason as to why they are In-House Dubbing it instead of Using the Original Voice Actor's

@sprchr7: Well, their reason is because it would be cheaper than dubbing at ocean, which is ironically BS because Shana is already large enough in fanbase and itself. It's doubtful if Funi can re-create the goodness of S1's dub.

It might be Cheaper, but isn’t there a possibility of losing Fans and with that, a possible drop in Sales?

Re: Shana 2 to be released on Blu-ray this Fall

I HATED how they didn't get entirety of the original cast back for the Trigun movie. Meryl and Wolfwood in my opinion SUCKED compared to the original Geneon/Pioneer VA's.

When there is a big fanbase like Shana's already WAITING for the sets (I've been waiting since I got the original Geneon complete season 1 set) I don't think it's TO much of a risk to get the original cast back (raised price and all). I don't know if I could handle another Alister or even Shana but Trigun was a fairly big fanbase and they still recast everybody but Johnny and I bet they would have recast him if they could have without HUGE FAN LASHBACK.

I love shana enough that I have the season 1 set preordered (even if I have the geneon releases and if it's an upscale blu ray then there is no point in my eyes of rebuying it for the blu ray). I think it's a joke that they're probably going to recast everyone.

Re: Shana 2 to be released on Blu-ray this Fall

@solarsun: According to Vata Raven, .the cost of outsourcing the dub to the original cast is at least 10,000 US dollars, so add 48 episodes plus 4 OVAs and a movie (which is about 4 episodes long for the director's cut and 2 and 60% long for the original cut), which will add to a total of 560,000 dollars, and that the prices will be anywhere from 35.99 to 80.98. If the original cast was to come back sometime in the future, it would have to sell about 14,000 copies (the cost of outsourcing plus new material, as well as the dubbing the new Shana-tan and Naze Nani Shana shorts with the original cast) combined. It's rare for such a thing to happen but Spice and Wolf sold as high as 10,000 copies.

Trailer's out. No dub footage, however.
