The big question is: What's the dub going to be like? Will it be dubbed in-house by Funimation, or did they outsource it to Ocean to dub it. The Amazon links say that they're Japanese (with subs) only, but that's probably only a placeholder, since Funimation dubs all of their releases.

They should be able to outsource the cast to Ocean since they care about consistency although them not outsourcing the Fafner movie to the same cast as the TV series and not outsourcing Fam,,the Silver Wing to Bang Zoom! places great doubt.
Nope. Seems they're redubbing the whole thing. [They announced a new Shana cast when talking about Season 1, so even that will be redone]
Why would they be re-dubbing the whole series. The dub of season 1 was good enough so what's the point of trying to re-dub it. Just because a dub is done by Funi doesn't guarantee it's going to be good.

Ocean probably charged more than FUNimation was willing to pay. Their dubs are not cheap and it's why they mostly do western cartoons these days.
@Rootsofjustice: Funi won't redub season 1 since I asked Rojas in person at Anime Expo 2012, meaning that S2 & beyond would end up with the new cast, essentially re-enacting an Ikki-Tousen (first season one cast and second season & beyond and entirely different cast that is inferior compared to season 1's. However, because Funi's VAs are better, this wouldn't be as bad but I remain doubtful if they're able to re-create the goodness of season 1's dub or better. If ANN and anime reviewing websites find the new dub inferior compared to season 1's dub then fans are going to be upset and demand Funi to release an alternate track with the original cast, but that is pretty much going to be only possible if they sell well enough to the point that they would cover that costs that would exist had they been outsourced to the original cast first (I asked Rojas about Ocean & Shana season 2 and he didn't really give out an answer.)). Not to mention, I asked Rojas season 2 & beyond's possibility of outsourcing to the original cast with it being possible if the initial releases sell enough to the point that they would cover the costs that would exist if they were outsourced first, which Rojas said it could be possible although I feel doubtful until I can clarify it with him (through his blog). But the mixed to somewhat negative fan reaction due to the use of a different cast for Shana S2 & beyond was just the beginning. Wait for Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail, and if Funi decides to in-house dub it, there are going to be a lot of rabidly upset fans.

Yeah, I knew they wouldn't do that. Geneon Universal owns that dub now, so it was likely included in the contract. As for why Ocean isn't covering season 2 and beyond, it's likely that several key actors just didn't want to come back, in particular Tabitha St. Germain who seems to be too busy voicing Rarity and Princess Luna in My Little Pony to come back up to Canada to voice anime. If enough actors say no to coming back, FUNimation begins to question whether or not it's worth is to spend the extra money to outsource the dub to another studio. If that question enters their mind, then just doing it themselves seems like a better option.

Wait, you're saying that Funi's going to re-dub season 1 despite me asking Rojas (who is a Funi member) in person that season 1 won't be re-dubbed with whatever new cast Funi made for season 2.

Why, that show isn't recorded in Canada? Hopefully she'll get out of that (if the series ends).

Not exactly for quality since people are going to be doubtful if the new cast can replicate the goodness of season 1. quote myself:

Not to mention, trying to get the series on Canadian TV (if possible) is going to be almost as hard as Dragon Ball Z because the CRTC (Canada's equivalent to the FCC) considers Shana as "Canadian Content" due to it being first dubbed in Canada (Ocean Studios).

No, that is not what I was saying at all. I was referring to the fact that the Japanese license holder (Geneon Universal) owns the dub. Naturally it would have come with the license.

Yeah, that's not gonna happen any time soon if the bronies have anything to say about it. Both of the characters she plays are major and the show itself pulls massive ratings. If she's smart, she won't be 'getting out of it' any time soon. That's good money.

If it's found to be inferior, people are just going to have to deal with it or watch it subtitled. They're not gonna pay to have Ocean redub something they've already done themselves and yelling at FUNimation to waste money they could use to license more anime to retread old ground is just plain childish.

Airing anime on TV these days is a headache in the US as it is. I'm sure in Canada it's even worse. Broadcast is icing on the cake if they can pull it off, but they don't need to do it as much as they used to.
