19:22:55 A: the tenchi series, hellsing, blacklagoon, all the stuff from AX last year.. had a very long term materials delay, just starting to work on them
19:23:13 they won't send materials until the geneon/universal merge is finished
19:23:16 hopefully sooner than later
19:23:25 as soon as we get materials, we'll tell you a thing
note to self - must set up a "one and only 'where is my [x]?'" thread.
Well at least you guys didn't drop it like Higurashi and Kyo Kara Maoh so I'm happy. So does this mean a possible Shakugan no Shana III simulcast from you guys here next season?
I really hope that Funimation does a Simulcast of the final season of Shakugan no Shana and maybe if it does well I hoping that Funimation will get the license for the final season.
I notice that Shakugan no Shana was actually created by Geneon-Universal. I'm sure that's why the red tape is especially thick.
Am I to conclude that this is ALSO why FUNimation was NOT able to get Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited BladeWorks?
Will this ALSO put a crutch on the future release of Fate/Zero which I'm very interested in...?
I also gather that the recent decision to reject further seasons of Zero No Tsukaima is more to do with this red tape than it really has to do with any "Sales".
Question is then What does J.C. Staff have to do with GENEON? They seem to be hand in hand with one another. (Zero No Tsukaima (now promising a season 4 in 2012), Toaru Majutsu No Index (apparently preparing for a season 3), Hayate No Gotoku (Seasons 2 and now 3)........)
It seems like a great handful of the best anime series are created by J.C. Staff and sometimes in affiliation with Aniplex (R.O.D.)
Without J.C.Staff to make our lives seem worthwhile I guess we only have GONZO... and well, they haven't produced a single decent production since the Tower of Druaga. I guess they have a Last Exile Remake or something, but let's face it. It's more like a public announcement to the world that Last Exile was their only REAL profit and that's why they're DESPERATE to make another hoping it'll have the same impact as the first. (If they COULD it'd be great. But I'm doubtful. They don't have the secret ingredients to make it good: Crispin Freeman (Alex Rowe) and Joshua Seth (Dio).
Am I to conclude that this is ALSO why FUNimation was NOT able to get Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited BladeWorks?
AFAIK we don't even know if they have tried to get it, let alone failed.

Doubtful, since there are a number of series affected by these delays.

They are an animation studio who works with Geneon, but not exclusively.

It's an announcement of their return to profit. Last Exile was their 10th anniversary title and the sequel, fittingly enough, marks their 20th.
To requote the Otakon quote I quoted a few posts above:

Well I feel kind of dumb because I just posted how I wanted funimation to bring the second series to the US. Although I'm going to have to wait and see if it actually goes through. I just finished watching the first season again, such a great series.
As far as the DUB goes it would be great if they got the original cast back, just because they are the ones that did the first series and so many people have gotten use to the voices and it would be weird to have different when watching the two seasons in a row. As far as the performance, which seemed love or hate, remember it is a series that has been out for a couple of years it is very likely that the voice actors will give a much better performance this time around.
Personally I like the original Japanese just fine and if it came down to just being subtitled or not released at all I would rather see it just subtitled in japanese then the release being canceled.
Here is an equation I like to use regarding FUNimation release dates:
LD+2Y=RD
(License Date + Two Years = Release Date)
Use this and all your worries regarding when that hot new title's gonna hit the shelves at your local video store will just fade away. If said title is released in less than two years, you can praise FUNimation for their "speedy" release.
looking forward for it
Just bumping this up with the Otacon panel news:

Why all the log in Issues with this account?
