The Summer of Streaming is Dead; Long Live the Summer of Streaming! or How I Spent My (Eternal) Summer Vacation.

Autumn is in the air, friends! The temperature is dropping, the leaves are changing, and the kids that hang out behind the convenience store have traded their tank tops for hoodies. Oh, sweet, sweet hoodies. How we’ve missed you so.

Of course, with fall creeping in, summer must end. And to that fact, we say FINALLY, DUDE. As most of you know, FUNi HQ is in Texas, and the Lone Star State just endured one of its harshest summers ever. At least, that’s what we heard. See, we never actually stepped outside. We spent our days blasting the AC and watching anime, thanks to FUNimation’s Summer of Streaming!

Remember that? Remember when we put up over 5,000 episodes, free, streaming, and ready to party? MOST of you took advantage of it. After all, we gave you the ENTIRE SUMMER. Sorry about the CAPS. It’s just that we’re frustrated. Because of one Mr. STEVE GILMORE of Tempe, Arizona. STEVE BLEW IT, Y’ALL. And it pains us.

Steve wrote to tell us how he spent his summer in Mexico, teaching kids about horticulture. Steve said he was bummed because he missed out on the Summer of Streaming. And while we’re not sure that “horticulture” is even a real thing, we’re bummed now, too. Because we want Steve to be happy. And, as we all know, happiness is only achieved by vegging out on anime. So, here’s what we did for Steve. And really, for you. We found a way to keep all 5000+ Summer of Streaming episodes online. Super-awesome, right? Here’s how we did it.

About two weeks ago, we went to our Wizard Department and asked Zantor the Impeccable to create a mystical-bubble-thingy over FUNi HQ. Took him like an hour. He used his Dragon Claw, three kitten sighs, and a pinch of Scandinavian Shame Clover (duh) to capture the last bit of heat in the air within the bubble. And then, with only a wave of his ancient hand, Zantor formed a Trans-Fjordian Time Loop, ensuring that FUNimation would exist in a state of perpetual August. So, while the actual Summer of Streaming campaign is over, we can still wallow in the sweltering spirit of the Summer of Streaming, thanks to Zantor’s strange magic. And that spirit rests somewhere within the 5000+ episodes of free anime that we’re gonna keep streaming online. For Steve. For you.

And while, yes, all of our employees are now trapped in the building until the spells wear off, we’re actually pretty cool with it. We’ve got two vending machines and a Sega Genesis that usually works. Seriously, after we elect a tribal leader through hand-to-hand combat and forget the names of our loved ones, we’ll be fine.

Actually, we’ll be better than fine. Because as the last of our humanity slips away and the rest of y’all are slipping into your hoodies, we’ll know we did the right thing by hooking it up for Steve Gilmore of Tempe, Arizona. Steve, if you’re reading this, we hope you’ll take the time to enjoy all 5,000+ episodes of quality anime that you can find on FUNimation.com. And be sure to keep checking back, because we’re adding new stuff all the time. Also, send help. Thanks.
