The question of whether there will be a season 3 has been brought up a number of times on this site. Maybe the moderators could sticky this thread or one of the other threads regarding this topic so it can be easily found.
As of 12/06/2011 I have checked all the official Japanese websites connected to this anime series and there is still no word of any future productions.
If Gonzo (or some other company) did decide to produce more of the series I would like to see them start over with an alternate retelling as opposed to continuing on with the current series. The second season, while it had some good episodes, was difficult to watch having read the manga and knowing how much of the original story was changed. Don't get me wrong, I really do like the anime which is why I pre-ordered the limited edition bundle back in January but I couldn't help comparing it to the manga while I was watching it. If the series was continued into a 3rd season I would definitely watch that one too.
Post your thoughts on whether there should be a season 3 or an alternate retelling. Please include in your post if you have or have not read the manga. Hopefully the production company will see an international interest in the show and consider putting it back into production.

I have not read the manga but loved the show it was AWESOME! Really hope they make a season 3!
I totally agree with you. I've read the Manga after I finished both seasons and I do have to admit I enjoyed the plot of the manga way better than the anime. Though, don't get me wrong. Rosario vampire anime was amazing, still one of my favorites but I do think they should have kept the anime adapted into the manga plot instead of having some episodes that didn't really make sense at all. I do agree they should make a third season, the manga is still a work in progress and I do believe in time they will decide to continue the anime; though I hope it's adapted better into the manga!
I'll still be praying every day though for a season three!
xD
. . . They laugh at me because I'm strange. I laugh at them because they're all the same . . .
I really do think they should scrap this series and make a new alternate series relating to the manga .Because if you have an anime that does not relate to the manga the storyline just does not make sense at all at least with most anime anyway. To be honest i did not mind the anime but they did not celebrate a single holiday which kinda pissed me off.Ya know they could have at least celebrated christmas that would have been fine too.And oh yeah they did not celebrate any ones birthday either which i thought was a total WTF! The one hit knock out also got kinda annoying. Ya think someone would expect a fight to the death or something. I was expecting a fight like that in the R+V season 1 finale. But whatever. if they do decide to make an alternate series relating to the manga i would like to see at least 48 episodes of it. I am sure everyone would agree.
THe show was good. But would have been so much better if it stuck to the manga story line. The manga is one of my favaorite stories. Even with how they did the the current anime if they did a few OVAs that highlight some of th eimportant events in the sereies that show the darker side to the story as well, they could slowly get the current stroy back on track to more or less match the current story line the manga has.
If they did a retell, that would be cool too, but I think if tey could just swing the story a bit to get on track with the manga that would be fine. But as long as we could possiable get more R+V I would be happy.
I reject your reality and replace it with my own.
I cant see it ever happening to be honest, they havent even finished producing the second season of the Manga yet (which I love), I think a third season of the Anime is wishful thinking, and Im sorry to say likely to stay that way
Well, let's review the Japanese timeline for the manga and anime:
Season 1 - Volume 1 (manga): Released in Japan on 04/10/2004
Season 1 - Volume 10 (manga): Released in Japan on 10/04/2007
Season 1 - Episode 1 (anime): Aired in Japan on 01/03/2008
Season 2 - Volume 1 (manga): Released in Japan on 06/04/2008
Season 2 - Volume 10 (manga): Released in Japan on 12/02/2011
Season 2 - Episode 1 (anime): Aired in Japan on 10/01/2008
The two seasons of the anime were produced by Gonzo in succession long before the second season of the manga was completed which probably explains why the manga and anime do not match up.
I am in agreement with Dragon0 in that Gonzo could make a couple of OVA's to redirect the anime series back to the manga's storyline. That would also be a good way to revive the show in Japan since the last episode aired in Japan on 12/24/2008.
It's one of my favorite animes, so I would like a season 3 as well. However I wouldn't mind if they decided to remake the show that is closer to the manga, the manga is much better, has a better plot, and give the main character the power to actually fight instead of being the one also in danger. They cut all the best parts out of the anime, not sure why. The show is good by itself, but it could be 100 times better if they would of keep it closer to the manga.
i would love to see the story retold but you have to remember that the same thing happened with znt but about 4 years later the 4th season is being released in jan so everyone be hopeful!!!
btw love the manga
I would pay so much for a 3rd season. Probably around $200 just for like 5 episodes. But they should seriously make another season
