I have watch the anime and read up to date the manga and my 2 favorite characters are:
Inner Moka cause she just hot all around and Tsukune cause he kick ass in the manga
Mizore Shirayuki is by far my favorite character! Actually shes my number 1 favorite Anime/Manga girl! As for male characters of the series I will say Tsukune just because hes awesome...and hes a total "rape your face" boss in the manga!
I love Mizore for multiple reasons
1. She has a wicked cool character design!
2. She isnt afraid to freeze a person when she needs too.
3. Her element/weapon of choice is ice which is just damn awesome!
4. Shes hilarious with her stalking and what not.
5. Shes just freaking hot!

I love all of the main characters and I don't think the series could do well without them either. I also think Kokoa is hilarious.
I would say Moka or Kurumu. Either one is alright.
