New Release Tuesday - Stay Classy

We've got two Anime Classics releasing today: Ai Yori Aoshi and Armitage III. You may have bought previous releases of these two titles, but now it's in our beautiful Anime Classics line in one neat little package! And, if this is your first time hearing, or seeing, these titles then you're in for a treat.

Ai Yori Aoshi synopsis:

Kaoru is a college boy with everything going for him. He lives in a mansion with his beautiful fiance‚, Aoi, all his roommates are babes, and they all have the hots for him. There's just one hitch: due to family complications, Kaoru and his beloved have to keep their engagement a secret. As he gets tangled in countless steamy situations, can Kaoru overcome temptation and stay true to the lovely Aoi? Two is company and eight is a party in this romping romance brought to you by the director of Saber Marionette J.

For quite a few of us, Ai Yori Aoshi was our first romance anime, so it holds some sentimental value. Plus, the love story in it is super sweet.

You know what's not sweet? The TV series Breaking Bad. I've been watching it recently and never knew that Bryan Cranston voiced a character in Armitage III! In fact, its got quite a few big name stars attached to it, like Kiefer Sutherland, Elizabeth Berkeley, and Juliette Lewis. Who knew, right?

Armitage III synopsis:

Finally the original cyberpunk classic is available in one comprehensive collection. One of the first productions to enlist famous American actors such as Kiefer Sutherland (24), award-winning Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers), and created by a team of anime masterminds - including writers Akinori Endo (Battle Angel) and Chiaki Konaka (Serial Experiments: Lain, Hellsing) - Armitage III: The Complete Saga is a must-have for anime and sci-fi devotees. Armitage is a brash cybernetic cop who sports a racy wardrobe and an attitude to match. Patrolling an unruly metropolis on Mars, she's got a grudge against a society where androids are at the mercy of unsympathetic humans. In the original OVAs - also coalesced as the feature film Poly Matrix - Armitage risks everything to hunt down a vicious android killer and solve the secret to her existence. The sequel, Dual Matrix, finds Armitage in an over-charged battle to save her loved ones from an obsessive doctor and his deadly Armitage replicas.

I don't know about the person above me but Ai Yori Aoshi had amazing packaging. The dvds looked amazing albeit not with 5.1 audio but hey I think the packaging was pretty nice looking along with the 6 discs in one case which reduces the amount of space it takes up smile

Was going to pick up the classics line of Armitage to replace my geneon dvd that was region coded funny but after reading a review of the packaging and extras I think I'll be passing.

If this is a classics line why was it so cheaply thrown together? Was there no time to go back and clean up the video any or how about get all of them to 5.1 audio?

It seems like you guys just grabbed the geneon masters and repackaged it with LESS extras.

Seriously? Isn't the Classic line suppose to stand for something a little above and beyond the standard anime? The reason it gets in the classic line is because it sells well and there is a demand for it? That you funimation would take the time and effort to make this release a 'Classic' in standards of packaging, video, audio, and extras?
You dropped the ball on this one.
