Flower Mound, TX (July 1, 2011) – FUNimation Entertainment announced today that it has acquired the rights to distribute the anime series “Cat Planet Cuties” (Known in Japan as “Asobi ni Ikuyo!”) in North America. These rights include home entertainment, broadcast, and digital.
The sci-fi comedy, directed by Youichi Ueda ("Heaven’s Lost Property”), is based on a light novel series published by Media Factory in which an ordinary high school freshman named Kio must protect a cat-eared alien girl from fanatical alien worshipers and government secret agents. Of course, it doesn’t help that this cat planet cutie has fallen for Kio and determined he is the boy for her.
FUNimation will release the 12-episode series on DVD and Blu-ray in 2012.

yeah whats up with the title change makes no sense. also is it going to be uncesored, only way to go,
Oh come on, Cat Planet Cuties? What's wrong with a literal translation of the title instead? Ya didn't change Strike Witches to "Fox-eared Magical Lesbians" or One Piece to "Booty-chasing Pirates". I really hope you fix that title before you release it. I'll buy it anyway as long as it's dubbed but I'll still hope you fix the title.
The name is just random.....but, i'm happy about this. Thanks Funi!!
This is a definite buy when it comes out, but that name....lol
Why the name change. Not the best one you've come up with. But I'm glade you picked it up.
I laughed when I heard about this acquisition(In a good way). Although I agree with many people when I say, What's with that name?
I feel like the name kind of a turn-off for me. I think it would be better to just leave the name as "Asobi ni Ikuyo!" in plain old rōmaji. It sounds better(and not as childish) for those who are oblivious to what the real meaning behind that title is... hehe...
Also, I agree with kingdomkey101 from the forums in saying that you guys should also include uncensored and censored versions(as extras). The think kingdomkey101 has a point that the censorship adds additional comedic value too the series.

meh, so its basically busty strike witches from space? no thanks.
Still always good to see new titles get acquired i guess, keep on chuggin funi.
Looking forward to it!!
I agree the name is a little weak. Couldn't we just kjeep the default title? Even so, I managed to get a couple of figures from this series because I liked the character designs, so it is definitely worth at least checking out.
Also an OVA unless I'm mistaken, did that get picked up too?
You guys made me happy because I can officially say this......"I CALLED IT!!!" WOO YEAH, BABY! WOO!!
